Overall, our stay at Niko was lovely. The staff is excellent – I was worried reading other reviews that we’d run into trouble getting the room we want and paid for or something, but we had no issues. They walk with you up to your room to ensure it is up to standard and everything – top-tier service! We did have an issue with our plunge pool initially. It made a loud gurgling sound that kept us up on our first night, but after telling the front desk the next morning they fixed it immediately, which was really appreciated. We did wish it was a hot tub instead of cold water. We pretty much did not use it at all because even with Greece’s nice weather, sitting in a pool of cold water was not that enjoyable. Breakfast was absolutely wonderful. Room service food was not the best, but the breakfast buffet was amazing in my opinion. As others have mentioned, a bit disappointing that this hotel isn’t actually on a usable sandy beach, but great beaches are literally just a 10-minute walk away. If you’re looking for that true resort, step right out onto the sand type place, however, this isn’t quite that. I imagine that’s probably why it’s a bit cheaper than some of the other resorts we were looking at. Overall, lovely place, staff, and stay!

Love it can't wait to return

Room was very clean, lovely amenities, felt very luxurious. Delicious food, musicians at breakfast even! Would highly recommend it to all. Only low score was for eco-friendliness because we have no idea about their environmental considerations, and we were regularly served plastic straws wrapped individually in more plastic, and with Crete being windy the straws and wrappers were flying littering everywhere.

First of all, I sent an email a month ago to ask about private transportation from hotel to Heraklion port and if they can arrange it. I didn’t get any reply so instead of 2 nights I had to cancel one of the nights and book another hotel closer to the port. Lots of staff, and they seemed to be friendly however, not extremely helpful or go above and beyond. A lot of smirks and talking behind the desk when you ask questions…

Niko is a nice spacious hotel with a few quirks that give it character. There are two pools one on the 9th floor which is knee deep and one on the 5th which is sufficiently deep for swimmers. The views from both pools are excellent and each has their oen bars. Sun beds on the 5th floor are for the early birds to "nab" but as the day progresses availability increases. We did not find any problem getting sun longers on the 9th. The hotel.also has a pontoon into the sea for sea swimmers and there is a small sandy beach which we did not use. The room lighting can be challenging so make sure you are fully briefed, we found it amusing but i see there are some complaints. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
