The premium room is nicely renovated, flawlessly clean, still pretty small. There is a lot of noise from the park I guess children playing all day long and at night some machine or a/c working in the middle of the night every half an hour for a couple of minutes ( not sure what it was) I tried to complain, but the young lady at the reception did not know English, so no result.
Very pleasant stay. Hotel convenient for the town. Very comfortable bed and newly refurbished bathroom. Excellent continental breakfast. On site free parking very handy. We did walk to the lake but it was a bit of a hike!
Hotel Des Eaux is a converted mansion set about 5 minutes walk from the centre of town and about 25 minutes from the lake. Although set on quite a busy road, there is little or no noise from traffic overnight. Easy parking on site. We were welcomed by a very pleasant and helpful receptionist who spoke good English. She took the time to accompany us to our room and made sure everything was good. Room was spacious with high ceiling , a good king bed and a good size shower room and a separate toilet . Only small gripe was low water pressure so not the most powerful of showers. Decent continental breakfast . Best thing about the hotel is it's location. We stayed two nights and after arrival we didn't use the car until we left . Within 5 minutes walk you can find a good selection of bars and restaurants plus shops etc. The lake is about 25 mins walk but there is plenty of parking at various points by the water if you prefer to drive. We wouldn't hesitate to chose this hotel if we return to the area. Overall very good and good value for money.
Good location with a beautiful view (we had the one facing the cathedral). Clean and spacious room with excellent mattress. Decor a little dated and could do with a refresh. Noise from the road was a little too much at night with the window open but fine with the window closed - only issue there is that there is no air-con so gets very hot at night. Good value for money. Note that in this and other hotels in Aix les Bains there is a free transport card you can get from reception.
My husband and I and our Cavalier dog were returning from Aosta and spent one night in Aix-les-Bains. It is a spa town and very beautiful an fun to walk around. The hotel was a little dated and basic but in a convenient location. Easy layout for the older crowd. You have to pay extra for parking and breakfast.
Although the hotel was lovely and our room was more than spacious, we felt like we were staying in a retirement home.
Now, we were there on a Sunday and (little did we realize) that the entire town shuts down on Sundays. The staff was very accommodating and our corner room (with fantastic views) was huge with tons of storage and a large bathroom. However, the hotel did not seem very full and we felt like we were the youngest ones there (and we're 60!). Lots of elderly people sitting around the lobby - I guess there to take advantage of al the spas. Finding anything open for dining was almost impossible, but the kind front desk clerk did recommend a place within a few blocks that was open on Sunday evenings and we had a lovely meal there.
Overall, a lovely stay but go visit Aix les Bains on any day but Sunday.
