Very Good

My truck broke down so I had to stay here for a couple nights and the owner or manager was very helpful with suggestions on where to eat and made sure I had everything I needed. This is an older hotel but the rooms are modern but tiny. For one person it was no problem but probably would be tougher with a big family. Lots of the original woodwork throughout the hotel including the original elevator from the 1930s that still in operation. Unfortunately, I didn't get up early enough to try the breakfast but all reviews I've read have said good things so I'm kind of disappointed in myself. I definitely recommend this place and the price was more than reasonable. I have definitely spent more for significantly worse accommodations
Great coustomer service very transparent management

Disliked: Staff & service
It got better. The fisrt contact was bizzar at best. My husband and i were shocked. The owner apologized saying she thought i was someone else. Sigh. The place is clean. The king room is tight but ok, they could ditch some furniture and that would help. Shower had good pressure. The bathroom as a room is camper size. As a retired AAA manager this would be a 2 star hitel. Its historic, and they try to maintain that history. Ac was loud. I would reccomend. Free parking, full breakfast.
Very unique historical hotel. Manager showed us rooms to choose from.
On busy hwy, but will stau again.

Not bad for the money
Room was small but clean. Comfortable bed. Had everything I needed. Good bang for the buck. The commons areas could use some cleaning and updating. Dust present on stairways and railings. Odd odor throughout the hotel. Old elevator but it's only three floors. Would stay here again.
The owners were so kind and quick to ensure you have everything you need. The hotel is older, but has such charm and is beautiful! They have a 1920 era elevator that is still in operation and SO cool! There is a sitting area on each floor, with a big one on the main floor and all are so elegant and cozy.
Breakfast had a decent mix of options, hot and cold.
Being an older building, the bathroom is small so a large person may feel cramped. There is no counter at the sink, but shelves above the toilet with ample space for your toiletries.
I definitely recommend this charming hotel!
Hard working staff who were very helpful in every way! Interesting and very historical building in downtown Monte Vista. Not your usual corporate chain hotel stay. Comfortable bed, generally comfortable room with adequate TV.Nice shower. Breakfast was very good.
The people were really friendly. They saw we had 4 people and decided to give us an upgrade. They even showed us around the place to explain how things work and where the ammenities were at.
We didnt get the room that was reserved initially, the room was so small and bathroom looks so small. our room had power outage when i used microwave oven. had to complain to reception to get it fixed.

The hotel was a grand old western hotel that was a shadow of its former glory. The interior was dusty and dark. The original lobby and bar were empty, the functioning lobby like a service station reception area. The area around the hotel was weed infested, and the back of the closed and chained “pub” was a crumbling brick addition held up with sheets of plywood.
The room was dark, the commode was so close to the wall with the tub that I had to sit at an angle to use it.
The staff was helpful, but it was a shame to see such dilapidation.
Property has so much potential but it is run down and dirty. Bathrooms need to be redone. Carpets are in bad shape. The common areas of days gone by could be fabulous….. but this place has lost its luster!!!!!

The proprietors were very kind and fast to accommodate their guests. The ambiance was amazing! It took us back in history with the antique furniture and classic elevator. Breakfast was delicious.

It's an old hotel with a lot of charm, it seems the owners are working on bringing it back to life. There are areas that could be improved, including the bathroom sinks which are very narrow and extremely difficult to use for brushing your teeth. Also the shower stall is approximately 2'x2' which is a very small area for showering. The room is small for a king bed and there is an excessive amount of furniture in the room making it difficult to move around. We placed a round table from the corner of the room in the hallway and rearranged the chairs which made the room more functional for the two of us. The owners are extremely helpful and very nice. Unfortunately during our stay we had the "do not disturb sign hanging in our door" but the owners entered our room anyway. They left a new bath rug along with some soap and they turned off the air conditioner and the television. It felt little like having your mom check your room and turning off the AC didn't help with keeping the room as cool as needed for sleeping.
