The hotel is well placed in the middle of Alnwick. However when we entered our room it was 'tired' . The double bed had passed it's sell by date and was extremely lump. The double duvet was within a super king sized duvet cover and wasn't as warm as we had hoped. The vanity table where the kettle stood has had a lot of water damage and the TV was set on a chest of drawers right in front of the mirror. The bathroom floor was not good with a lot of dirt and hair that was not ours, so we cleaned that with some damp toilet paper. Anyone staying in room 126 will notice immediately that the bottom of the bath was rusty and the shower control very stiff. We each had a shower on arrival as we were at a reception at Alnwick Gardens and after my wife had a shower the folllowing morning the soap dispenser had run out. We really should have stayed at the Premier Inn out of town!!! Breakfast was all cooked on heater trays and all that was out was apparently all there was and it had sat there some time. No staff on duty when we left to discuss issues with so left key at reception. A poor experience which will not be repeated.

Disappointing
Communal areas were very good but our room was in desperate need of updating. Stains on the ceiling and paper patched up on ceiling.
Hidden charges if you eat or drink in the hotel which should be pointed out when paying for drinks or food.
Hotel is in a perfect location for exploring the area around.
The dining room decor was amazing taken from the ship Olympic. Linen tablecloths changed after every meal. The staff were friendly and super efficient and the food was excellent.
The bedroom decor was tired and room servicing was below par, water glasses not cleaned.
The bar staff were not always available and when we went for a nightcap after the theatre the bar was shut at just 10pm
the stay was great, all the staff were very nice and the breakfast was wonderful, thanks to all the staff.

An old property which can look a bit tired in places but has some lovely features such as the Olympic Suite dining room.
Breakfast on our first morning was waiter service with an excellent choice. I had the oak smoked haddock with poached eggs which was an excellent choice.
Second morning was a different experience with no menu and a hot buffet with poor choice and cold plates.
Our bedroom was comfortable and spacious with plentiful tea and coffee facilities and lovely fluffy towels.
Pleasant staff throughout the hotel.
Our room 121, was a long walk from reception and there was no lift so would have been unsuitable fore some
All in all we considered the hotel to be good value for money and would stay there again if in the area ☺️
