Avoidable
ONLY WAY to access this property is either climb down 300 stairs or climb up 700 stairs. Breakfast was basic, there was no food at this place for whole day apart from breakfast. View is nice but living area is not properly maintianed. Staff barely spoke any English apart from one lady who is there only for check-ins.Overall too expensive for what was offered.

Trouble
The address didn’t take is to the exact location. It took us an hour and a half to find the hotel. They had to come to us and take us to the hotel. Upon arriving we had to hike down a large staircase to a home that has been converted to a hotel. We were told we had double beds. Instead we were given one big bed. We weren’t impressed so we left. While trying to leave we found that we were locked into the house. We had to sneak out by going over the fense. Very interesting. We ended up paying for another hotel that we were much happier with. We payed for a hotel that left us disappointed and having to spend money on a place we didn’t end up staying because of the circumstances. The people were very nice though.

The hotel had great views of th coast however, it was not in a centrally located place. If you wanted to visit the Almafi Coast, aim to get a location closer port in order to have easier access to the center, where all the transportation is located to visit other towns/villages. The staff were nice, however the main receptionist would leave each night by 8/9pm which meant the hotel/front desk was left unattended each night and early morning. It’s also a hike up/down to get to th hotel, I believe 500+ steps. I didn’t mind the steps since I was a little more physically active but certain days I wouldn’t even go out to dinner since the public buses take forever and there weren’t much options around the hotel nor was there room service/restaurant options at the hotel. On my last day i had an early flight and had a schedule bus transfer for 7am from the port which meant i had to catch the 6:30am bus, the lift actually stopped working so I was forced to carry my heavy suitices filled with bottles/clothes/souvenirs up 700 steps. By the time I reached the top, I had missed my bus, had to go to the nearest hotel to request a cab and headed to the center. If you’re looking for great views this is an option but not the only one, scout around, but if you absolutely can’t find another hotel that requires less physical activity to reach or that’s not as centrally located then you will survived at la Palme. Overall staff were nice, the pool was nice to visit.

Amazing weekend
Staff was amazing and nothing is too much for them. As Salvatore says, when you are a gues here the hotel is yours and you are the boss. Breakfast was lovely and just right - not too filling and not too light. Rooms were airy and with stunning views. The sofa bed was uncomfortable but didn't bother us - not meant for an adult. The pool area was lovely and clean - all areas were. Nice and cool zen area - stunning view! Loads of steps, but it is Amalfi, so expected. Unfortunately on Sunday when we went home, we could not operate the stair lift (no key) and mum had to walk up the stairs in the heat. Nobody's fault but it was a bit of a panic getting her up there! Amalfi is a lovely friendly town that's less touristy. Had an amazing weekend and will definitely go back and stay with Le Palme.

The Steps are Not Worth it
This hotel should come with a health warning writ large. The steps are uneven, in many places broken, littered with debris and in many places without a handrail. Only very fit individuals would be able to negotiate access. In spite of the remoteness of the place, there are no provisions available after 7pm, the dining/sitting room closes thereafter. The rooms are depressing and shabby, the staff indifferent.

Beautiful view and wonderful staff
This hotel is a little far from the beach and town, but the view is unbelievable. When you get to Amalfi, take the bus towards Pogerola and get off at the Grand Hotel Excelsior, you will see a sign for Le Palme, take the stairs/lift down to the to hotel. I would recommended walking down the stairs to the beach at least once (it took about ten minutes), then taking the bus back up to the hotel. The bus schedule is fairly easy to follow, but it always helps to just double check when the bus leaves and where it is going. We stayed in a nice room with a view and really enjoyed our stay. All of the hotel staff was so nice and accommodating. During our stay, my friend fell ill and they drove us to the hospital, talked to all of the doctors for us (we don't speak any Italian) and waited a few hours for her to be released. I can't thank them enough for everything they did for us, including taking us to the pharmacy, waiting up until we got back to the hotel and giving us food, and making sure everything was OK in the morning. I highly recommend staying here!

DO NOT STAY HERE YOU WILL REGRET IT!
There is not one positive thing I can say about my stay. For starters the hotel says " in amalfi", in order to get to the hotel you have to walk down 350 steps down a mountain. If that isn't bad enough if you want to walk to the city of amalfi you can either walk down 750 steps down a steep mountain and then walk two kms to the city which is severely dangerous ( I fell once and my luggage is destroyed), or walk back up the mountain 350 steps and pray a bus comes or pay 50 euro one way for a cab. The hotel staff is limited the person who worked there left at 7pm on a Thursday evening. The "hotel" looks like a run down home that has not been taken care of. Our room was outdated, barely had any lighting and the walls were so thin you could hear people talking thru the walls. The comfort of the room did not exist our bed was hard and there was barely any room to walk. You were pretty much stuck at the hotel unless you wanted to take the mountain walks which had time limits due to no lighting and once again DANGEROUS. We left the second we got there and didn't even check in. The management was not available and we were told to wait till the next day to speak to someone. Food was limited you could pick from a vending machine or a menu with 5 options that was also pricey. If you want to be in the amalfi coast do not stay here it is way to far from the actual city and it is dangerous and very pricy to try and get to amalfi. I would NEVER RECOMMEND or stay here if it was free.

AMAZING STAY
The hotel boasts a MAGNIFICENT view. Breakfast was really good. We had the BEST homemade croissants we've ever eaten. Service is REALLY good. There's just ALOT of stairs so be prepared to have your legs sore.

Amazing stay at a beautiful place.
Well we had an amazing stay! We selected the suite which was worth every penny (only £10 extra). Just have to mind your head! The lady was very helpful giving us directions to the hotel and which buses to use. The stairs were hard work as we decided to climb down them on the first day and i could barely move the next day! Very step and lots of them. We decided to use the bus after that! There are also stair lifts. But i don't regret staying there, the beauty and peace make this so worth while. It was such a beautiful spot my partner proposed to be out on the terrace (and i said yes!) I think this hotel was exceptional value for money. Only negative was i thought the shower was rather small and the mattress a bit hard (drink enough Italian wine and you wont notice the hard mattress :-) Thank you very much!!

Very nice staff, far from Amalfi
This hotel has a lovely woman working there, it has an awesome view of the ocean, and it has a nice pool. However, it's not in Amalfi but a neighbouring town, and you need to take a bus to get there. Then you go down 300 steps to the hotel. To get to Amalfi, you go down over 600 steps to the highway, then walk along a narrow strip beside the highway for 15 minutes.

Great Views, But Lot of Steep Steps
Be sure you connect prior to arriving so you know what the current arrangements are on getting down the steps and into the property. We didn't have the best experience on that part so it took an hour before we got in. There are a LOT of steps (300+; steep). We only had backpacks but it was raining and even with the lift... So I'd say you'd need to be prepared for that many at that depth going up and down. Yes, the view IS amazing! So if you are into photography, this is quite nice. The general areas of the property are very nice. There is a pool as well. I would imagine in summer this would be great. We were there in Jan and our room felt cold, water took about 5 minutes to get hot and shower chamber is tight. Good towels. Hair dryer provided. Bed - headboard kind of falling off; mattress was ok. Sheets nice. Breakfast was great: "grilled" cheese, warm croissant and choc dough ball; yogurt and cereal, toast, jam, coffee...very plentiful. It's a drive all the way down the hill to get into Assisi.

Le Palme
Such a beautiful location to stay - the pool looking over the ocean was perfect and the staff were very friendly - a feast of breakfast was served every morning looking out to the water. Very relaxing. I would just leave lots of time on exit to get up the stairs as the lift is a bit temperamental.

peaceful beautiful place out of town
Very relaxing. Lovely staff who couldn't do enough for you. Stunning views worth the walk for the quiet location, pool and view. Easy to catch the bus a bit closer but 300 steps down from buss top or 700 steps up from town keep this very exclusive.

We thought the stairs would be ok
We really thought the stairs would be really do-able but the haul to and from Le Palme everyday was rough on the knees. I think it would have been a great hotel if our plan was to stay there and lounge by the pool and then visit Amalfi in the afternoon and evening. Since we wanted to hike, we had to haul our way down everyday and it really made us change our plans. Also, there are no signs on the stairs back up to the hotel and it gets very confusing. We got stuck wandering around those steps one afternoon going up and down to find our way back. They will gladly shuttle you to and from the associated restaurant in Atrani for dinner and we ate there almost every night to avoid having to get back to the hotel by foot. Their food is excellent.

great view of amalfi coast
the view from the hotel can't be beat because if you're staying in the amalfi coast it's impossible to have a view of it. so the hotel is a located on the hills a little ways from downtown amalfi. the nice family that owns the hotel also owns a restaurant near town. definitely worth the free shuttle to the downtown area if you dine at their restaurant. access can be a bit difficult because of all the stairs down to the hotel, but it's well worth it. there is a handicap wheelchair conveor system to get you and your luggage to and from the hotel.

Beautiful views and great service
We spent 6 nights here and absolutely loved it! We booked the suite, which was extremely spacious and situated on the upper terrace with the pool. Probably because the majority of people staying here get out and about exploring the amazing Amalfi Coast, we pretty much had the pool to ourselves on the days we stayed in.The views from our room, the breakfast terrace and pool terrace were wonderful and if you're happy staying in the hotel you can't beat it for relaxation. Although the hotel is on the hillside, it's not too difficult to get around. There's a stair lift from the road above that can save you about 300 steps and it's only 15 minutes to walk down to the main harbour of Amalfi. There's a lovely little village called Pogerola about 10 mins walk from the top of the stair lift, with a number of restaurants with lovely mountain views. Amalfi itself is great and a bit less touristy than Sorrento or Positano. The service was very good too. Le Palme is a family-run holiday house with about 8 rooms, so it never feels too crowded. Salvatore, Maria, Sonia et al provided us with everything we needed, including free shuttle service between the house and their restaurant in Atrani, which is also called Le Palme. We had a great meal there. Overall, one of the best holidays we've ever had and we couldn't recommmend it highly enough. Just be prepared to walk a bit.

awsome views
Family running the hotel was super friendly, but not all spoke fluent English. The steps to the hotel didnt matter as we went to Amalfi to do hiking. Also the town itself is awful tourist attraction, so it was nice to be a little away from it. And actually going a little up the road is another town that is better (I forgot the name). The room was clean and minibar prices very reasonable. Only bathroom door a bit stuck. The view was just awsome from our balcony. We had the best food in the manager's restaurant, so we recommend that also. Hotel breakfast was soso in comparison-but good.
