Hotel was dated and the windows in the room were only single glazed meaning there was a lot of road noise and moisture on the inside of the glass. Room was freezing cold upon arrival as all the radiators were off (it was 2.5 degrees out). Upon arrival with the dog, the hotel said they were not aware a dog was coming (despite when I made the booking through hotels.com I filtered for dog friendly, had to pay a surcharge for the room (which wasn't that clean when we arrived). We were then told we'd have to have breakfast the next day in our room! Upon floating around the breakfast area looking for someone to speak to about breakfast, a nice young lad asked if we would like a table made up In the lounge, we said yes please. He said weren't you given this option when you checked in? I said no we didn't. He was a great lad and very accommodating and friendly. Food was also really good! Upo

A lovely, quaint and homely guest house with friendly, helpful staff. My room was clean, comfortable, warm and cosy. I was given a guided tour of the breakfast facilities upon check in and then shown to my room. The breakfast itself next morning was delicious and made to order. Rothay Garth is situated right at the heart of Ambleside, with all the local amenities only a couple of minute's walk away. There was also ample free parking on the premises. I would recommend this guest house and have already booked another stay.

Rothay Garth is a really lovely guest house. From check in with Nick to the staff who served breakfast. Everyone was super friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Located opposite the Park where there is crazy golf, pitch and put and tennis courts, and a short walk into Ambleside centre. Very clean bedrooms and a very nice dining room and lounge area. We would definitely stay here again.
