Lovely traditional B&B very close to the centre of Ambleside. The room was clean, warm and beautifully decorated. The bed was super comfortable! Joanna was a great host and I felt very welcome and safe as a solo guest. The breakfast room was charming and I enjoyed the vegetarian breakfast on offer. The only minor negatives were the shower and the lack of hygiene bags in the bathroom. I also struggled to access the apps on the smart TV. Overall it's an excellent place to stay and I would book again if I were visiting the area.

Well run friendly efficient staff. Hotel is a more dated property but is nice and traditional. Our bathroom in a superior room was in need of updating which i believe they are in the process.The shower was rather poor which i reckon was due to a faulty mixer valve. We didnt raise this has it wasn't a major issue for us and it may be just low mains pressure on the cold supply or because its a older property. Breakfast was very good with excellent service Parking was good but obviously over weekends can be full rather quickly. Hotel is in a great location but you may hear some noise from road and the property is obviously single glassed, which again wasnt a real issue for us. Overall, great stay and would definitely stay again.

Hotel was dated and the windows in the room were only single glazed meaning there was a lot of road noise and moisture on the inside of the glass. Room was freezing cold upon arrival as all the radiators were off (it was 2.5 degrees out). Upon arrival with the dog, the hotel said they were not aware a dog was coming (despite when I made the booking through hotels.com I filtered for dog friendly, had to pay a surcharge for the room (which wasn't that clean when we arrived). We were then told we'd have to have breakfast the next day in our room! Upon floating around the breakfast area looking for someone to speak to about breakfast, a nice young lad asked if we would like a table made up In the lounge, we said yes please. He said weren't you given this option when you checked in? I said no we didn't. He was a great lad and very accommodating and friendly. Food was also really good! Upo

A lovely, quaint and homely guest house with friendly, helpful staff. My room was clean, comfortable, warm and cosy. I was given a guided tour of the breakfast facilities upon check in and then shown to my room. The breakfast itself next morning was delicious and made to order. Rothay Garth is situated right at the heart of Ambleside, with all the local amenities only a couple of minute's walk away. There was also ample free parking on the premises. I would recommend this guest house and have already booked another stay.
