This hotel was a real find. Located on a quiet street in a great location near Museum Square, it is a quirky but charming building with comfortable rooms and very friendly staff. The hotel has a simple but excellent breakfast every morning and lots of extras at no extra charge like 24 hour help yourself drinks (both non and alcoholic) and laundry service. This is our new go to in Amsterdam!

The location of the place was perfect for us. Quick tram ride into the center of the city. Right around the corner from the Rijksmuseum & the Van Gogh and Vondel park. The breakfast choices and drinks available throughout the day and evening were delightful. Highly recommend!

Even when the weather in Amsterdam was grey and damp, this hotel was a gem! We stayed in a Medium room which was perfect. Wonderful bed, quiet streets, amazing drinks. They even provided a free laundry service. And also allowed me to store my luggage for a few days while I travelled to around Europe. Highly recommend.

Excellent service! The staff was very friendly and incredibly helpful on many occasions. Also, the breakfast was great and the late afternoon drinks and snacks were excellent! High quality wine, beer, liquor, salami, cheese, crackers, olives, etc. were a wonderful touch! We love the concept of the Jan Luyken where you get these extra goodies, as much as you want. Plus, one free laundry service during our stay was much appreciated. Great neighborhood, walkable, and conveniently located near the Van Gogh Museum, with a large, beautiful park nearby. Downsides: The room's appearance was not visually appealing. The art, the weird, mismatched fabric on the headboard, and the strange colors gave it an elevated hostel look. Additionally, our bathroom sink and bathtub sink didn't drain well at all, and although we reported the issue more than once, it was not addressed during our stay. So, a mixed bag.

Despite being only about five minutes from museum square, this hotel is on a quiet street with little traffic. Our room had an alcove framed by a large window filled by a street tree in bloom. This created a peaceful ambience. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I downgrade the furnishings by half a star because our room had only one chair. It was beside the table in the alcove. There was room for a second one on the other side; in fact there was what looked like space provided for a second chair. I brought this to the attention of reception but they were unable to fix this omission which made the room somewhat inconvenient for two people.

The property is lovely, clean and comfortable. Almost everything provided is complimentary even laundry service. My only complaint is that there are no grab bars in the tub/shower.. so it is definitely dangerous.

Although my review is positive- and I liked the hotel it has special features and is homey- personally challenging experience with the organization- and I would caution guests to get receipts and clarify with the staff what is happening in terms of charges- As their system was changing. It was not idea timing- but they made large financial errors l- I thought about not mentioning but felt it might be useful for others to know.

The location is excellent for visiting the Rijkmuseum and VanGogh museum. If your into very high end shopping one block away are Prada,Celine,Hermes and so on. The room was adequate for one person, however, the bathroom is another story. The hairdryer was mounted so high I could not reach it, 5"2" tall. When I enquired at the front desk about this I was given a stool to use to reach it. I'm not sure this is the best solution for a paying guest to be using a step stool to access something that should be readily reachable by anyone. Second the shower was very slippery and dangerous. There were no hand bars and one could easily have fallen in it. These things definitely made my impression of this hotel less than favorable.
