This was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. Top service from the staff. Room was spacious and had everything you would need. Sagger check in you are escorted to your room and they explain everything about the room and property. Will definitely return here when we come back.

The overall condition of the rooms and hallways is very used. Looks like it was glorious a long time ago but now very dated. The rooms were mostly clean, but there was a ginger pubic hair on the toilet seat when I first entered the room. I am not ginger. Staff was okay, but the front desk lady complained a lot about their software when I checked it. Not what I expect from five stars. Rooms had the same amenities as a three star hotel in Asia. The hotel seems to want to be world class, but is more like three stars.

Service was incredible. The entire staff was very helpful. Breakfast buffet was very good, but pricey if you don’t get it included in your room rate. The location is excellent, 10 minutes to the central train station with access to trams, and ferries, but the area is quite walkable. It is on the edge of the red light district but you can go there or avoid it easily. Pop for a canal view. The bar is really special, great snacks, drinks, and you can have a full dinner there. All the rooms are different, a bit quirky but very charming. Beautiful wood hallways and lots of art deco touches, worth a walk around the hotel. We stay here whenever we come to Amsterdam.

The positive of this hotel is the history in the building & walkable distance to the central train station and many other attractions/neighbouhood. Unfortunately, the disadvantages are more as the hotel pool area is in dire need of a facelift, whirlpool was colder water than the main pool, jets didn’t work, steam sauna out of order. Our room wasn’t ready till 5pm, we were compensated with a free soft drink in the restaurant. 2nd day our room door lock was disconnected and multiple staff to fix it, our room wasn’t cleaned that day either. For the price & five star rating I was pretty disappointed overall.

I did not like the remote-control curtains - they were opened every morning by someone in another room! Also, the rooms have no air conditioning, so can get very warm. I did enjoy using the well-maintained spa facilities.

If you are looking for that different type of stay with quirky feelings and different vibes then this is the hotel for you The hotel is something out of the ordinary and has strong history behind it that makes it fascinating to stay in. The hotel staff were very nice and attentive to all guests especially when we had breakfast in the morning. The selection at breakfast was amazing with so many choices and the coffee was lovely. Again the staff couldn't do enough for you. I highly recommend getting an Uber from the airport with the price costing around 42 euro's, a normal taxi cost over 80 euro. If you are looking for something different then this hotel is ideal.
