Lovely hotel.
Lovely hotel and amazingly friendly staff. Breakfast was good, recommend ordering from the menu. Rooms and neat and tidy, plenty of space with a well equipped bathroom - both a large bath and separate large shower. Only a few minor issues such as two single beds pushed together which caused some discomfort for a couple. Some lamps in room not working - neither caused any real issues and would come back!

The only positive thing I can say about this property is that it is in a convenient location to get to public transit and restaurants. The staff (for the most part) were incredibly rude and the hotel policies are ridiculous. On the first night, we went to the front desk to request an extra pillow. There were 2 small pillows on our bed at check in. We were told by the front desk person, “We don’t do that here.” The next day, we were trying to get take out and bring it back to the hotel so we could put our baby down for a nap. One of the staff stopped us as we walked in and told us that the hotel does not allow food inside so we would have to take our food and eat outside. If this is truly a policy, why is it not written anywhere? Why do you not tell guests this information during checkin? The room itself had these thick glass doors to the bathroom that pop and creak when you open and close them, so it sounds like they are going to fall off and break every time they move. There was also black mold growing on the ceiling in the shower. Our room door also had to be slammed every time to close it. Overall, I would not stay here again, and I would not advise others to stay here.

Hotel De Hallen is an excellent choice of hotels in Amsterdam. It's located in a really great area, close to trams and restaurants, without it being really busy or too touristic. The room was excellent - spacious and clean. Breakfast was also well priced and plentiful, including freshly cooked omelettes. I would stay again!

Cool hotel in cool area
Beautiful, stylish hotel in a really cool part of the city. Attached to a food hall. Plenty of bars, cafes, restaurants nearby. The room was comfortable. Only downside was the outside room wasn’t really an outside room, it looked onto a corridor. I always like a room with a window that can be opened for fresh air. I would have liked to have known that.

Perfect outside of the touristy areas
Location is perfect for folks looking to be a bit further from touristy places, experience more like locals, while still being close to great shops and restaurants. The hotel itself was quiet, rooms comfy and felt large enough for a 5 day stay (deluxe room)

The building is unique as it was formerly used for trams. Liked the common areas. A comfortable place to relax as like many European hotels the rooms are small. Breakfast was good. Museums were about a 25 minute walk. Everything very clean. Staff was very helpful. Would definitely stay again if going to Amsterdam.
