I had a great stay at The Lancaster Hotel!! It was right in the heart of Amsterdam. The bike rental they offered was perfect to visit sights. The rooms were updated and clean. The staff always so helpful and friendly. We had a great stay and enjoyed it.

While the property itself wasn’t bad. There was one employee who seemed flat out disinterested in working. In all my life I have not written a bad review but when an employee in hospitality consistently makes rude comments and rolls her eyes at you when you ask for water or towels, I have to say something. It’s unfortunate that one individual being inhospitable can really impact my view of a hotel. The place was good, that one employee was horrible.

Stay at the Lancaster Hotel!

We had everything we needed. The bed was a king and very comfortable. They cleaned the room daily which they don’t do in the states anymore. They were incredibly friendly and helpful at check-in. The buffet breakfast offered was reasonably priced, had a huge selection of food and everything was incredibly tasty. My only comments would be that the bathroom needs more light and the towels could be of higher quality. But that’s really small stuff! All in all, loved it. And the location was perfect. Out of the crazy but near a tram and easy to get anywhere we wanted to go.

Lovely place. Staff are very friendly and eager to help. The room is small ans so is the bathroom but this is an authentic European house, older than us! It has been remodeled to hotel rooms. There's no a/c but there is a fan. I puposefully selected this hotel to experience the preple, the culture and how they live. There is so much to see and do. The tram is very close and takes you to places to shop or eat or to see attractions. There is a park next door where you can hear the birds. I highly recommend this hotel.

The double room is no bigger than a closet. Everything is so small, and no place to put out a roller bag suitcase, the shower curtain hits you, and if your 5’ tall, you can’t see the bathroom mirrors. I would recommend paying the $25 extra per night for a Superior King room, which is a normal good sized room. I stayed in the superior room with a friend the night before our husbands arrived. Thinking the $25/less room would also be nice, I said we could take it, I was sorely mistaken and disappointed. Also there were a few of the staff that were so rude, were not helpful and never smiled. If you’re thinking of renting a bike at the hotel, make sure to do it early, as they only have 10! The other closest places are at least a 10 minute walk away. The area is great, and if you stay in the Superior King room you’ll be great.

Our check-in was fantastic - we hadn't realised there wasn't step-free access to the hotel and the man on the Reception Desk on the morning of Monday 5 May 2025 was so helpful and carried all our luggage into the hotel for us, which we really appreciated. Our room was a good size - only two hangers in the wardrobe though, and very little storage available so we lived out of our suitcase for the three days we were at the hotel. The room could have done with better lighting. The hotel runs a 'green' system - only cleaning every three days, unless you specifically ask. For the amount we were charged, it should have been cleaned every day without having to ask! Great location for visiting The Holocaust Museum, Hollandsche Schouwburg and easy access to the Holocaust Memorial of Names, Jewish Museum and Portuguese Synagogue and walking to the centre of Amsterdam. The tram stop is right by the hotel too.

Just got back from a 3 night stay at this hotel, and had a lovely time! The staff were great, nothing was too much trouble and they were really friendly and helpful. They have a small shopping essentials area in the lobby where you can buy toiletries and snacks which was very helpful! Few things to note - there was a bit of mould on the windowsills, curtains and showers, so the room could do with updating, however the rest of the room was clean and well equipped. On our last night our shower drain blocked and our shower leaked out into the room and soaked the carpet, the door to the shower also did not shut which I think didn’t help. However, we notified the staff and they were very helpful and even offered to put us in another room for the night. We had breakfast one morning out of 3 and it was ok, a lot of choice for cereals and pastries but not much variety for hot food. However, the facilities and decor were very modern. The location is perfect. Not far from the centre which is easily accessed by the number 14 tram and is directly opposite the zoo which was fantastic. Overall was a pleasant stay, great value for money and would stay here again. Thank you!
