Hotel with a beautiful view and little else
Beautiful view, mot easy going up and down the mountain, amenities like the bar and the pool should be better.

It was my first visit to the Caribbean from the States. Me and my partner Chris was extremely pleased with the staff and the hotel accommodations. Hats off to the staff and and the management at the Marquis Boutique Hotel. We look forward to the next trip to the Islands. Miss you all John Fischer

Boutique Hotel at Anse Marcel
Perched on a hill with views over the harbor, this hotel is delightful. Some limitations, no restaurant other than for breakfast but room service provided promptly from nearby restaurant. The staff will ferry guests to beachclub, where one can rent daybeds dine and swim, in their Porsche Cayenne. Nearby roads are a bit daunting at night or after rain due to steep gradients. They have a nice library of old fashioned paperbacks in English, French and German. Internet is a little variable. Service wonderful, friendly staff.

Quiet and comfortable. It doesn't look like the online photos but still a nice place if you don't want traffic right out your door. Would recommend it for couples but not for families

Great location, but time for an update
On a positive note, the Marquis is in a nice, quiet location on the island, overlooking a beautiful bay and far from throngs of tourists. It was divine to fall asleep to the sound of the wind every night and wake up to the rooster every morning. The hotel was very clean and staff were courteous and helpful when asked. On a less positive note, the hotel is in need of a fairly major update, judging by our room. The bed was squeaky, hard and lumpy. Pillows were flat and uncomfortable (and when we asked, they had no others to offer, so stiff necks were a problem for us all week). Sheets were scratchy. No shower curtain on the shower meant that the bathroom floor got all wet. Poor lighting in the room made it hard to read in the evenings. Hard wooden furniture on the balcony was uncomfortable for sitting longer than a few minutes. Also regarding the location, you must be an intrepid driver to book this hotel. The drive from the airport on narrow chaotic roads is a challenge, and the steep winding road in from the main road challenged our little rental car, even in first gear. Apart from breakfast, meals must be had elsewhere and Anse Marcel offers few choices, so driving for dinner is a nightly necessity. Highly recommend Anse Marcel Beach, both for the beach and also the restaurant, which has a perfect location on the beach, a fabulous menu, and excellent service. Best beach we visited. Also highly recommend dinner at Ti Bouchon - don't leave St. Martin without eating there!

Beautiful small hotel overlooking the sea.
We stayed for 7 nights and loved the hotel. Comfortable rooms, great staff, amazing view, and close enough to the beach to get there quickly by car or shuttle provided by the hotel. Very good continental breakfast at hotel and many dining options close by as is a nice French market. A car is a must.

Quaint hotel, real nice team, good value, safe
Arrived on the island just before dark. Got our rental car and headed to the hotel which is an experience for the first time. Twisty turns, steep hills, interesting traffic and quite the memory. The drive becomes much easier over time and actually kind of fun. The location is one of the best on the island and in the middle of the good beaches, of which we did 15 of them in 6 days. Best beaches are Grand Case, Mullet Bay, Happy Bay, Friar Bay, Orient. We have traveled the world and St. Martin/St. Marteen is our best island vacation to date. Easy to get around, safe, fun, great water and warm too, fantastic food and the best value of any vacation ever. The prices are incredibly reasonable and the dollar goes far there. All of the beaches are public and you can bring your own beer, alcohol, food, whatever and there is free parking everywhere. Our hotel was basically our place to sleep and get ready for our night out and was accommodating. Would recommend it with some slight adjustments. Stay away from the port. Definitely rent a car and explore. Go hiking at Lottery Farms. You must eat at the LO LO's (lobster, chicken, potato salad, macaroni and cheese and so much more)at Grand Case with unbelievable food at great prices. Get a cooler and ice and bring your own beer/drinks everywhere.

Gorgeous mountain-top retreat with great seascape
From the moment we drove onto the grounds, we knew it was a magical place. The beautifully manicured tropical gardens gently swaying in the warm ocean breeze, with the sound and sight of the turquoise sea below lapping onto the pristine white sand, gave us the complete sense of paradise. The staff were immediately warm and welcoming. They were very accommodating with tons of great suggestions of things to see and do, and even offered us a lift to one of the several world-class restaurants by the beach at the base of the mountain, to save us from driving ourselves after our long journey there. For subsequent meals on other parts of the island, they not only made excellent recommendations, they made the reservations as well. Our ocean-view suite was magnificent! Bright, spacious, and beautifully decorated with local artwork. The view was absolutely breath-taking, and invigorating to wake up to each morning. Breakfast service was available in the suite, but we opted to make the short hop across the lot to the breakfast terrace, where we were greeted each day by very pleasant staff who prepared whatever we desired, along with a customary basket of fresh croissants and baguettes, and an assortment of local fruit. If you wanted a place to simply relax, and enjoy the pool and other on-site facilities, you can't go wrong here. We're more the "explorer" type, and found that we could see and do everything we wanted from this location within just minutes' drive. We love this place!

This is indeed a beautiful place to stay, as indicated in the reviews. The views are wonderful, over mountain and water, marina, ocean, islands in the distance. Rooms are comfortable and private, staff is warm and outgoing. We stayed for 10 days and found it relaxing and pleasant...

Marquis Boutique Hotel is owned by an actual French Marquis. Moiira and her Swiss staff are very, very service oriented and pleasant. Continental breakfast available, but plan to have your meals off property. Very, very romantic - we will likely return to this property again within a year.

Hilltop beauty
The Marquis is a quaint friendly hotel at the very top of the hill. An adventure to get to and a beautiful view. THe room is large, clean, a nice balcony, lovely staff. We asked for a rental car which was delivered to and picked up from the hotel. The hotel is a 20-50 minute drive from the Juliana Airport depending on traffic.

Lovely small boutique hotel with amazing views
Lovely stay at this nice boutique hotel. Staff was amazingly friendly. It is up hill, with great views of Anse Marcel (bay and port), so you will need a car to get to the beach.

Modern, Clean rooms with amazing views & breakfast
Loved the fresh fruit, orange juice, coffee and basket of fresh baked pastries and jams we got every morning. Eggs and other adds on where extra and where also amazing. Warm and friendly staff was very knowledgeable and rooms were cleaned daily- fridge restocked. Waitstaff and desk remembered our orders and had great wines and other foods to buy to take back to the room. They helped us make reservations and book other events and advised us on travel. View was amazing. the beach was a short 5 min walks downhill but we drove some days- free parking too. Overall best possible experience. Thanks so much!!

Fantastic 9 day vacation!
The Marquis is in a beautiful location on Saint Martin and is the perfect escape for vacationers looking for a nice place to stay. Located on a hill overlooking the entire cove, the fantastic view and cool breeze are the perfect thing to relax to after a long day on the beach. The hotel is walking distance from the beach and the staff will drive you there and back whenever you wish. There is a gorgeous secluded beach at the end of a tropical forest trail hike near the hotel for those interested in privacy and adventure. Numerous four and five star restaurants are also a quick staff-provided drive away. Several daily boat charter services work out of the marina located in Anse Marcel for those looking for day trips visiting nearby islands or diving/snorkeling locations.

Brilliant, Unique and Lovely Boutique Hotel
The Marquis Boutique Hotel is a wonderful, hidden getaway on the top of the mountain overlooking Anse Marcel Beach. The staff (thanks much to Christina, Cecilia and Ana), hotel and views are all first-class. Yes, it is a bit of an adventurous ride to get there in a 1.2l Hyundai (if you are staying on the French St. Martin side a rental car is all but a must), but well worth it as it provides a great base at the northern tip of the island to go exploring. The hotel overlooks the beach and the much more generic Riu All-Inclusive resort (thank goodness we did not stay there), and is an easy drive once you get the lay of the land to the Grand Case restaurants (which is really more of an alley:) and to the more touristy but grand Orient Bay. A must-visit as was suggested us by the Marquis staff was Friar's Bay and from there a short hike to the lovely and quite hidden "Happy Beach" We did our research but were still a bit surprised at how "raw" much of Saint Martin still is - if you are looking for an easy, all-inclusive Caribbean experience then this may not be for you or may want to stick to the more 'Western" Dutch side of the island. But if you like some adventure, driving straight up mountains on semi-paved roads and experiencing a touch of French language and culture in the West Indies, then this is a wonderful place to gain some memories.

Hilltop Heaven!
This was the second stay in 6 months for my wife and I and it was like coming home. Moira the Marquis manager welcomed us like old friends and the only thing changed is three fresh new Swiss interns who were fabulous. Really nothing is too much trouble from the simple breakfast, coffee and rolls, sitting on the room deck looking down 600feet to the Anse Marcel beach resort enjoying wine from the local store or the Marquis fridge. The girls are always avaialble to run you down to the beach or the local resto's in Cul de Sac 3 miles away up and over Pigeon hill (great views). You need a car really to get to the local beaches, nature walks, hike to petite Caye or just feed the donkeys. We love the place ad will keep returning. Bad for the waistline this place though. We also received a wonderful upgrade into the best room ...thanks wonderful Moira!! Only 17 rooms. Super relaxation and comfortable. Don't go if you want an antiseptic Marriot experience, all inclusive, nighttime shows or a floating river.

Hotel with mountain and bay view
We a family of four with two kids stayed at the Marquis boutique for five nights. Our views from the hotel balcony were simply breathtaking. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in particular our morning coffee sitting on the patio. The hotel receptionalists, Christina and Emma gave great suggestions about things to do and eat on the island. A car is a must to enjoy the island fully. The views from hotel of the surrounding mountains and bay are simply panaromic. You can simply sit anywhere on the hotel and admire the beauty of nature doing nothing but just sipping a drink for a whole day and relaxing. We loved the Le Galion beach and watched a beautiful sunset at Mullet bay. We had an American breakfast at 13 Travaux of Hercules, Cul de sac and lunch at Lady lizard beach bar and grill in Phillisburg. The hotel provides shuttle service to nearby restaurants in Cul de sac. The grand case area has great restaurants and is a 15 min drive while the airport is 45 min away.
