Stay Away!
I booked my stay at Extended Stay America Suites – Appleton through Hotels.com for 9 nights. My wife had total knee replacement surgery, and we felt that she would have too much trouble trying to climb the stairs to our second-floor condo, so we booked a handicapped accessible room in a place with an elevator. We paid for the entire 9-night stay in advance. After staying 5 nights, she was feeling better and her physical therapist told her she could climb stairs. She went home and I went over to the hotel to get our gear and check out. I did not ask for a refund for the 4 unused nights that we already paid for. The hotel informed me that I owed and additional $123.00 because I did not stay long enough to get the weekly discounted rate. I told them I would keep the room for 4 more nights, let it sit empty and owe them nothing. I went home and called Extended Stay America corporate office. They told me the same thing, that I would owe them and additional $123.00. Then they told me I could check out after 7 days and owe them nothing. This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. It is also one of the biggest rip-offs anyone has ever tried pulling on me. When I went to check out after the 7th day, there was nobody manning the desk and nobody anywhere to be found to check me out at 1:00 PM. I went back on the 8th day and they said they could not check me out early because I booked the room online through a third-party site. I handed over the keys and left.

Would NOT recommend Appleton location
The room was clean, but there was a lingering smell. The hotel does accept pets, which we had as well, so we just accepted the smell as being from a previous guest with an animal too. We booked on Hotels.com, and were quoted a specific price per night, for the two weeks. However, upon arrival, our quoted price was not honored, and we were charged over $20 more per night. The hotel Manager, Paula, was not very friendly and quite rude when I went to inquire as to our stay. I asked more than once for an itemized copy of our bill, only to be met with a very terse attitude. Finally, three days later, I was able to get the weekend supervisor to give me a bill. I've worked in both small and large hotels over the years and have never treated a guest the way we were treated. I might try Extended Stay again, but NEVER in Appleton. It's not worth the headache and the attitude from the manager. Plus, when we asked about getting supplies to cook with, we were just told No. I've seen the signs regarding purchasing cookware, but evidently, we weren't even worth that option. Poor management skills and horrible customer service.

The staff was great. The property is a little worn out but it looks like they are putting some money in the property. They had just finished seal coating the parking lot and repainted.

Room was ok, hallways were filthy and smelled bad. There were no dishes in the “fully stocked kitchen” couldn’t find an ice machine, and unable to get ahold of staff for extra pillows and bedding.

Front desk hours are limited. One of the bed mattress laid on the floor with no bed frame while the box spring was leaning against the wall. One bed didn't have a set of blanket nor linen. Didn't get house cleaning and and replacement of bathing towels. 1 out of 5 stars.

Upon checking in the key didn't work and we had to use the stairs to the third floor. No luggage carts. After getting a working key we went into the room and it was dirty. The toilet was dirty inside and out. There were also dogs barking nearby. We moved to a different room which was also very dirty. There was a can of spilled Sprite on the floor, dirty socks under the bed, toenail clippings on the floor, and hair all over the bathroom—another trip down the stairs to request a broom from the desk. We spent about 30 minutes cleaning our own room before settling in. Now, 9:30, and our supper was cold. We ate and went to bed. At 10:30 the hallways were so loud we had to call the desk again. We definitely expected a LOT more for a $ 150-a-night hotel.

My husband and I have used this hotel in the past and liked it because we travel with our dog and it happens to be close to our favorite rstaurant,Nakishimas. We haven't been here in a few years and it was extremely disappointing! The room was filthy. The bathroom sink was clogged and the refrigerator sounded like it was going to die any minute. We couldn't use the light fixture next to the bed because it was broke. I honestly should rate this terrible but the front desk man,Tyler, did take down the room number and wrote down all the issues.I won't be back it's not worth it. There are a lot more hotels to choose from that do a better job for the money.

The hotel was sold out with Green Bay Packer fans. Breakfast was a few muffins and some oat meal packages—and nothing more. Very, very disappointing. I went to McDonalds for breakfast.

Literally worst bed and pillows EVER. Hard as a rock and the bedding was super scratchy and rough. Everything seemed clean, but I felt like I was super paranoid about bed bugs and what not. Carpet was so faded and dingy looking, I refused to walk barefoot in the room.. Glad there was nothing extended about my stay! First hotel Ive ever checked out of BEFORE 8am, not to catch a flight, but because I was ready to get the heck out of there. Mediocre coffee in the lobby in with super stale tasting muffins. Will NOT be back!

Not recommended, but was functional.
Not so great. Check-in was fine, but the hotel is not clean. Cons: Bath tub was dirty. Bathroom was very tiny, had to walk around toilet to close the door. No hot water for shower. The stove was not working properly, the dial does not match with the temperature - had to turn until it worked. Front desk gave us some dirty mugs - not sure how it could be provided to customers, clearly they were not washed - food scraps and stains inside the cup. Brown water came out of the kitchen sink. Super light breakfast - Nutri Grain bars, oatmeal, and pre-packaged muffins. (Should not be advertised as breakfast, really just snacks.) Pros: Functional for the night. Room remained cool with A/C.
