There was construction dust visible and the smell confirmed that the room had been recently renovated. Unfortunately the bathroom sink was blocked and didn't drain. Otherwise a nice hotel with enthusiastic staff.

i booked a Double Room on Hotels.com. But at check-in was given a Twin Room. Receptionist told me that they only received a 'Standard Room' booking from hotels.com. No upgrade or discount offered, seems like a regular issue that no-one is dealing with. The room was at the front of the hotel, so we had continuous noise from the motorway. Double glazing not very effective. Otherwise hotel seemed ok, convivial seating/bar area.

We’ve had an excellent time here. The staff were very helpful and friendly, food was great, room is comfy and spacious. Any requests of ours were sorted out immediately. Only downside is that the building itself is not a modern one but it doesn’t take anything away from our positive experience.

Very nice roadside hotel with large room amd very comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent. Dinner was spotty. The ale and meat pie had a crust like cardboard. The fish and chips very excellent.
