We love staying here. If you happen to get a lake view room, it’s beautiful to see the sunrise on Lake superior in the morning. Good breakfast, helpful staff and a walkable path along the marina and tunnel down into Main Street. Highly recommend black cat coffee.

A touch of elegance in a Best Western
This is not your average Best Western! It starts with a large beautiful lobby furnished with antiques and the decor flows into the room. There is a restaurant and bar on the lower level with delicious food, and a patio overlooking sunsets on the second level. The room was well-maintained, well-lit and very clean. Equipped with refrigerator, microwave and coffee-maker. No safe. All the staff is personable and helpful. I highly recommend this facility!

Great hotel
Excellent hotel, complimentary breakfast had plenty of healthy options, friendly and helpful staff. I've stayed here a few times in the past, great views of the bay, easy access to downtown and the recreational trail. I'll definitely stay here again.

OLD HOTEL. Lobby is beautiful…bar and dining are great too. Room floors have a Steven King feel to them but had a nice room (with few outlets) and beds were clean and comfortable. Great location and sunset pictures were amazing out the back on the outdoor dining area!!!!

Beautiful hotel right on Lake Superior. Close to everything. Nice walking path right out front of the hotel. Friendly staff. Great view from our room. Comfortable beds. Lots of outdoor seating. We even grilled our dinner one night. Lots of parking. We will definitely stay here again.

Clean, beautiful, well maintained convenient stay
Lake side king suite provided a really nice view of Lake Superior and a sail boat marina. Walking paths along the lake directly accessible from the lake facing deck/boardwalk. Our first night there, we ordered supper on the deck/boardwalk from the in-house restaurant while watching the sun set. The potato wedges and the whiskey barbecue bacon cheeseburger were excellent, the asparagus was perfectly done. Cheese curd appetizer with a tomato based sauce with cinnamon was tasty, lightly breaded, not excessively oily. Even though the bed was plush, it appeared to be supportive enough for our backs. The room was clean and also had a table and chairs for miscellaneous eating/socializing. Desk area was handy for my wife’s scheduled work requirements. We aren’t streamers, but the internet access seemed to be sufficient for our needs, no signs of being overloaded. Bathroom layout was rather cramped. Breakfast had a lot of good options, although it would have been nice to have a few more choices of fresh fruit. Beautiful design and woodwork in the communal areas of hotel, also a number of interesting artifacts and local backstories of important historical persons within the community. There used to be hot tubs in some of the suites and the pool area, but they had been removed about 2 years ago we were told. Hotel appears to be well maintained. We will definitely go back if we stay in Ashland again.
