This was our most interesting stay in Japan, so if you’re quirky, read on! Atami Kinjokan embodied everything we found fascinating about the town itself - it’s aged, grand and like walking through the hallways of a decadent yesteryear. The dinner served was lovely - and what a view from the banquet hall. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was huge and listening to the canal that runs through the different wings of the hotel was magical. If you want new and shiny - don’t stay here. If you want to see a fascinating window into a different time - do!

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. The property is a little worn, could use some refurbishing and the location of the bath is odd - you have to leave the building and enter the adjacent building from a connecting walkway
Pretty good find. Has an onsen, arcade, and a beautiful, small, traditional garden. Located In a walking distance from atami station and all the main attractions. The room does resemble a ryokan.
Most of the staff does not speak English, but will go
great lengths to help. There are some unmentioned fees at the checkout (might accumulate for larger groups) that leaves some bitter taste. But overall a pretty good stay
Hotel is far from station with 25 min walk or hotel shuttle seem to be available. Staff speak very little English but friendly. Outdoor onsen is all covered up with limited views but clean and relaxing. Dinner selection is limited variety of buffet choices of sashimi and crab legs. Breakfast was also limited choices of dried fish and rice or bread. Room was very spacious Japanese style with balcony view of city and ocean.
