The first night in room 517 was amazing - lights everywhere, walk in shower. 2nd night and a change of rooms to 211. This room has no lights except for the bathroom, the bathroom door is incredibly hard to slide open & shut, and the street noise is rather loud. I cannot fathom the difference between the 2 rooms in this hotel. No lights is a new one for me.

Area looks a little grubby, but it’s not dangerous in any way. A couple of great little restaurants nearby (Tasty Corner doesn’t look much, but it’s really good) and easy to get into the centre of Athens.

Hotel is definitely average, kind of old, small things not maintained. Room 603 has a view of the Acropolis but there are antennas in the way. The shower head is at waist level. The door lock is questionable. The room is small given it’s a “premium” room. Breakfast is good. The large balcony was really nice. The shower had hot water. The AC worked well. I wouldn’t stay again as it was a 30 minute walk into the downtown.

Sufficiently fine but left me furious

It’s a fine hotel on the metro line and a 30 minute walk from the Acropolis. My biggest problem was the failure to listen to me when I paid the city tax. I asked to use the pin on my credit card rather than swipe it and they immediately swiped it. Therefore, my card was declined. I gave them my second card and said again I need to use the pin. Don’t swipe it. And they swiped it too. So now both my cards were declined and did not work the rest of my two week trip. I had to rely on the safety cash I carry. To say I was furious does not truly describe how I felt.

Very Pleasant

This is a very good Hotel to stay. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. Everything was clean. The location has a few restaurants near by. There are many convenient stores and coffee shops around.

Decent hotel and value for money! Most of the rooms have had refurbished rooms. Friendly 24 hour check in and decent bar and roof top terrace.

Candia Hotel was super comfy and we felt right at home there! We loved the giant balcony and the rooftop pool with view of the acropolis. We saw every single sunset up there, sitting by the pool, looking out over the rooftops of Athens. It was stunning! You are only minutes from the subway and everything is within reach. I wish we could have stayed longer. We can definitely recommend this place! If we ever come back to Athens, we would definitely stay there again. 5-star rating!!

It's old, small and absolutely not a 4 star hotel. The pool is not a pool, the hotel is old and decrepid. Needs updating. Area around it is dirty and felt unsafe. Checked out after 1 night.
