We enjoyed out stay at the Metropolis Hotel Athens. Small, basic, clean hotel with great charm. We booked 4 nights before a cruise and one night after before we flew home. It can get a bit noisey from the restaurants on the street for a few hrs but this is something the hotel has no control. The location and being able to walk to Plaka, the Acropolis, shopping, public transit, Syntagma Square and restaurants was so convenient. Even when we would get lost in the narrow streets of Plaka just look up and find the cross on the church which was across the street from hotel is how we found our way back

Couple's stay in Plaka

This hotel more or less did what it said on the tin. The rooms are very small, but fit a lot of functionality in, much like a tiny home. Not much space to open up a suitcase though, which was our main issue, so we had to move the desk to the side a bit. The views from the front-facing rooms are great, both of the nearby church and sometimes a peak at the Erechtion (Acropolis). Even if the room views don't show you enough, it has a rooftop area which always has a good view, a very nice touch. This rooftop doubles as the breakfast area, though we didn't use it as we found a tasty artisinal bakery very nearby (72H).

The room was just what we needed for our trip. Close to everything. Plaka area which seems very safe. Beautiful view of acropolis and church. Staff was extremely nice. Shower was a little small but was expected. Would definitely stay here again.

Close to Acropolis

the location and staff at this hotel are wonderful. Views from the room and the rooftop breakfast area are unparalleled! Some street noise at night, but everything was very clean and perfect for our stay. Walking distance to all the major sites in Athens.

Good location marred by noise level

Pros: Excellent location close to shops and Monastiraki metro station. Cons: The balcony door and window had no sound proofing at all ( room no 12 ). Right below it there are a few restaurants and the noise continued until the wee hours of the night. We couldn't get a wink of sleep. This is something the owners need to address on an urgent basis.

The most perfect location to stay in Athens

From the minute we arrived we were looked after so well. The hotel is so perfect for seeing and being in central Athens. Cafes, shops etc all around. The views are incredible...breakfast is a joy...and lovely. I cant say enough about this hotel..

The bedroom was so so small for 3 people and the shower is way too small every move your body gets stuck on the shower curtain. The aircon works well though. At night it can be noisy outside but since it’s centrally located near downtown it’s fine.

One of my better choices

A small hotel. I had a moment of hesitation when I realized that the hotel and rooms were rather dated. But then I was surrounded by such a friendly and helpful staff, that I was glad I made reservations here. And the view from my balcony was absolutely stunning. I would return here.
