The Fairmont remains one of the best hotels in Austin. The convention crowds are noticeable. Parking is expensive. The functioning hours of the steakhouse can be a guessing game from day to day. And the internet connection can be spotty. But overall these details do not diminish the sense of luxury and the comfort of the rooms. The proximity to the hiking trails by the river make the unexpected inconveniences tolerable. Recommended.

This was a great option for me and my partner. It was walkable to Sixth Street and several different tourist acitivites that we had planned. The staff was lovely and the whole place was very clean and the food was great (especially at "Good Things"). I will say that in-room dining and other food did take a bit of time to be served but when it was, it was great. The pool was nice and the free sunscreen was a def plus, especially when I ran out of it. Also, take advantage of the water bottles at the bell desk. It is very hot in Austin in the summer. One thing that I did not not like was the additional $35/day charge for the property's Urban Experience. To my knowledge it is not optional. Everyone is charged that per day for certain amenities - $25 dining credit/$25 spa credit/free use of bikes, etc. It likely does not pay for itself, and you'll end up spending more trying to make it worth it. The spa was very expensive so the $25 credit was not worth it for me and my partner. We did use the free bikes which was nice.

Everyday was an issue. First there was hair all over the shower. Next, the phones were not working and lastly they locked us out of our room until 2:33 am. Security was EXTREMELY rude saying we shouldn’t complain if we can’t afford the room. Very disappointed in the “luxurious” hotel. NEVER STAY HERE. There are WAY better hotels for a cheaper price.
