My room was not fully cleaned - the shower had long dark hair clogging the drain - I have short blonde hair and frankly was disgusted to use the shower after I noticed the hair and dirt on the tiles. There are full time residents that also live in some of the cottages - one of these individuals had a dog and they were out all night and the dog was left alone - alone to howl all night long. It was terrible and you could not sleep. There is also only one window that looks out to the rickety stair case that everyone else uses… which was the setting for an mature photo shoot one night where flashes from the camera went wild threw the one window you are a lotted. Lots of wires exposed for all the appliances and really bad lighting. I’ve stayed in worse places on Catalina - and I’ve stayed at better. Def a middle of the road lodging.

Overall you would have thought this hotel was a youth hostel… it was filthy, worn out and had zero service. You would at least expect the bathroom to have a sink and be clean- nope sink as right next to the foot of the bed- shower filled with mold, miss cut tile and peeling paint. We booked a room with two queen beds, we were given a room with 1 Queen and a pull out sofa bed. Not only will we never stay there again, but this is the second time now where I have booked something on Expedia to end up having horrible service- as in none and/or completely misrepresented properties - the photos are laughable compared to what the actual property.

We booked a cottage with a kitchen. The problems: 1 electrical outlet. 1. Fortunately my husband travels with an extension cord for his CPAP machine. The floor sagged and there were cracks everywhere. The bathroom sink was so small and the faucet was too big. It was impossible to use the sink without getting water all over the floor. We received 2 towels. 2. We asked for more towels every day. There was no housekeeping. None. The sheets were never changed. The kitchen was stocked with 2 plates, 1 wine glass, 1 coffee cup, 1 roll of paper towels. Useless. The cottage was very noisy. You could hear your neighbors and all the conversations from people walking by, and all the sounds from every car, truck, golf cart passing the hotel. The room was also really hot. The ineffective air conditioner made so much noise we couldn't talk when it was running. The good news: The awful cottage was very convenient. Very central. We got a late check out without any additional fees.

The property location was excellent! Close to everything and convenient. We stayed in a cottage that had a small kitchen. The room was clean, however, they are old and in need of updating. You definitely want to wear shoe’s inside

The room was okay for our 2 night stay. There was an odd smell in our room and the floor was dirty. The staff was very kind when we asked for housekeeping to go in and mop our floors and when we asked for new sheets and towels. Hotel is a little outdated but it would be okay for a short term stay.

the cottage was really cute, the restroom was smaller than it looked in photos but that wasn’t too much of a problem. i enjoyed how we had a functioning kitchen in the room as well as appliances and utensils? they came in very handy. the bed, pillows, and blankets were also quite comfortable and soft. and it was very nice that we were able to leave our luggage in the luggage room even after check out so we could still explore the island before getting on the ferry to leave. overall i enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay here again

It’s basically a place to stay and nothing else. The beds are about as cheap as you can find, the bathroom is about the size of a closet, and the room has a view of a wall from all windows. It’s one of the cheaper places on Catalina island and you get what you pay for. Also, this room is tiny. Just enough space for two full size beds and that’s it.

This was a really nice place we didn’t know what the room would be like but we ended up in a title cottage above the office. It was so nice for our anniversary it was like we were in our own little house. The staff was really nice it’s very convenient to everywhere we went over our stay. I know Avalon is not a huge city, but we didn’t rent a cart and we walked all over with Hermosa Hotel being pretty close to central. Only thing is, 2 flights of narrow stairs was a lot with the luggage up and down, however it’s really not horrible since we only had that issue coming and going. And the place has deep history so that makes it totally understandable.

The place was very DIRTY, from public place to the rooms. The room did not have any daily cleaning or at all on our 3 night stay. It was very run down. Very disappointed The staff was friendly and bed was comfortable.
