The Cleftstone Inn is a beautiful property. It's an older hotel but it's been updated and the rooms are really nice. Parking is right outside the main entrance. They have a homemade breakfast that varies from day to day that was really delicious. Acadia is just a short drive away so it's really convenient. We would definitely stay there again.
We had a fantastic time at The Cleftstone. The staff was accommodating and friendly - Steffen and Corey were awesome. The whole Inn is super clean, classy, and homey. We stayed in Room 14 for our honeymoon and it was gorgeous! We also can’t say enough about the breakfast. It was insanely good!
Gorgeous Victorian Inn conveniently located close to shopping, restaurants, and the ocean. Plenty of parking right in front of the house/Inn. Staff was friendly and welcoming and the breakfast included was out of this world delicious!!!! Oh and they had a fan! It was needed on the 3rd floor where our room was located. FYI, they don’t have an elevator but staff offered to take our bags up. Also, if you have issues with stairs, be mindful there are lots of stairs, so make sure to be aware of that when booking your room. Definitely a must stay!
The Inn is beautiful with a great lication. The room was clean, newly remodeled and comfortable. We stayed four nights and breakfast the first morning was excellent. i was expecting the breakfasts pictured on their website, sadly, those items were never offered. We bought breakfast the third and fourth mornings after the second day's was extremely disappointing.
We loved our stay at Cleftstone. Stephen, the Inn Keeper, was attentive, friendly, & helpful as was every staff person we encountered. The breakfast was scrumptious. Wish we had more time to stay longer. Bar Harbor is a wonderful place and Cleftstone made for a delightful respite from leaf peeping and Maine shore sight seeing. Thank you so much!
This was the absolute cutest property of our week in Maine. Every room was beautifully decorated and the details made everything so charming. By the way, the best sleeping pillows too! They also served breakfast in the morning and it was delicious! This Inn is off the beaten path of Bar Harbour which is nice during high season. We loved everything about it. If going to Bar Harbour, it's a must!
Breakfast options were tasty. My only regret was booking room 17. The climb up the 3rd flight of steps left me feeling unsafe due to no handrail while climbing up to a loft area. Room 17 is very small, which it does state. The dormer wall was annoying. I hit my head a couple times and so did my husband. But little time was spent in the room, except to sleep. The flowers on the breakfast tables were nice, but the water in the vases were dirty, kind of a sore sight. Other than these small items, it’s a nice place to stay.
Lovely old period house with an eclectic layout. Rooms 1 (we were in 1) and 2 backoff reception and the lounge, so you go to sleep with the last guest and rise with the earlist. The Inn was understaffed but they did do their best.
A little quaint manor abounding in charm and hospitality. We loved the breakfasts, afternoon treats, friendly service, and large, adorable decorated rooms.
We stayed in room 18. It is a hike of steps so pack light. The breakfast was great. The staff was friendly and helpful. Just make sure you know what your room is when you book.

Beautiful Inn to stay while in the Bar Harbor area. Unique rooms - Kind and friendly staff. Best of all - The delicious breakfast choices afternoon desserts to nibble on in the evening. :)
As of August 2024, this property has undergone a complete renovation and is in PERFECT condition. Our room was very large, with a separte sitting room. Staff is wonderful. Property is an easy and enjoyable walk to "downtown" Bar Harbor with its restaurants. Parking is abundant. Breakfast was good. The only negative is that property is located directly on what is now a busy highway leading to Bar Harbor. With the double (or triple pane) windows closed and the AC on, the room was very quiet. But it would have been nice to open all the windows and enjoy the clean Maine air. But the car noise was too intense for that. It should be noted that busy Route 1 is where most hotels and B&B's are located. So this problem is generic to Bar Harbor. If you really care about a quiet room with the windows open, research your hotel choices in Bar Harbor carefully.
Only got to stay 1 night but everything was so enjoyable! Very clean, comfy beds, updated amenities but still had a vintage charm. The girl at the front desk (Sam) was so welcoming and quick to help - answering questions and offering to print my Acadia parking pass for example. This was my first time staying at an Inn and needless to say, I’m eager to visit again!
Wonderful stay with a delicious breakfast. Location is close to anything you may need right on the outskirts of town, without all the hustle and bustle.
