Excellent location right by Basel's Old Town, and there's a bus stop nearby with a bus that goes to the main train station. The rooms and beds are very modern and comfortable, the hotel is on a quiet street, and the breakfadt buffet is excellent. Staff are also very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

Great last night in Switzerland

Exceeded all expectations. Great service from the staff, who told me all I needed to know about the hotel and Basel. Responsive to my needs - directions, transit, schedules, local dining options, etc. Room as advertised. Nicely furnished, clean, great condition, airy and spacious. I don’t write many reviews but Hotel Spalentor should be recognized for the gem it is.

We were very happy with our stay. The staff was great and very friendly. We arrived 3 hours before check in time after traveling 20 hours from California and they were able to upgrade our room and let us check in early. This was awesome since all we wanted to do was get a little sleep. We were only there for one night, just a quick stay over before joining our river cruise the next day.

Very nice staff. Very clean. Right across from the old city gate. Free public transport is right across the street, 8 minutes to the train station. Fairly loud traffic area but good windows kept it at bay.Would certainly stay there again.

I am usually in Basel at least once a year and of the four or five hotels I have stayed in this is definitely my favourite. It is conveniently located for the centre of the city and buses to the airport and railway stations and all of the staff on the front desk are exceptionally friendly and helpful. We were upgraded to a large room, offered a late checkout and a discount voucher for food and non-alcoholic drinks, all of which were much appreciated.

Our room, which luckily was available by 11 am had a balcony with a view of an old tower. We had an amazing stay in this hotel. Location was also perfect. I highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel is nestled in a quiet area. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. A bakery (great for breakfast treats) was nearby. We could walk to many places and we were right on the bus line to get to the train (and by staying we were able to ride the bus free). Also, the staff helped us navigate the buses and walking around. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Hotel Spalentor.
