Really lovely hosts, quiet spot really close to the airport. Only downside is you need to take a taxi to go to the beach, but if it's a short trip, it's perfect.
John, the owner and manager, was extremely helpful with suggestions about where to go in both St. Kitts ans Nevis. Though the Culture House may seem a bit outside the main action, it is only a 10 min walk to the main road where you can catch bus/vans to anywhere. Basseterre is only 5 minutes away.
Horrible. Totally run down dump. Had to leave early wo refund! Choose between heatstroke (no AC, windows cannot be opened) or eaten by mossies when you open doors wo fly screens. No lounge anymore (it is now a stinking dog shelter), no breakfast or bottled water as described. Fotos & text are a fraud (Food, lounge dont exist or beach pic from Frigate Bay). No beach view. Beach far away & cannot be used/dump. Google "Pics Culture House Basseterre" for real pics.
Family was not happy... The host John and Tina was very nice but there was not much to accommodate family... They left before check out... If you’re looking for a basic hide away in the country then go for it but must like dogs too... Not for children or adventurous families...

John and Tina were really nice hosts. They gave us a good orientation of the island, must see spots, dining and general advice on how to get around. Every morning before we went out Tina would ask where we were going and suggests good places to see in that area and it always worked out better than the spots we had intended to see. The room was clean and comfortable, probably could use a mini refrigerator and better lighting. My two main issues would be the plumbing in the bathroom, as water backed up every time we showered and the dogs.

Ladies and Gentlemen. If you are expecting the Ritz hotel please go elsewhere. If you are looking for a comfortable, clean and relaxing retreat then this is your place. John was the pillar of hospitality and ensured I had everything I needed to be comfortable. The location is "Lived in" and rustic and John resues dogs so if you are not an animal lover this is not the place for you. The location is for the "World Traveler" or someone who wants to have some quiet time and enjoy a drink on the balcony while reading a good novel quietly.
The Wifi works great - was able to stream movies on netflix without any issues however please note there is not a microwave, fridge etc in the room however John will do his best to accomodate you. There is no AC which is a shock at first however you do get used to it over time and makes the shower so much enjoyable as it is a coolish shower which I enjoyed.
Reading through some of these reviews is quite sad as honestly you get for what you pay for. Make sure you rent a car or have someone to drive you around the island. Everything is close in proximity however a car or bike is something I would recommend you have to get around. There are bugs as there is throughout the Caribbean however I wasnt really bother by them.
John - Thanks for your hospitality and kindness and look forward to coming back again for a relaxing time.
Cheers
Hard to locate entrance. Nice room, affordable.clean and a balcony overlooking the ocean. Be aware that no soap or shampoo is provided. I already knew there was no hot water. I left at 8 am and no one was there for checkout. Affordable nice rooms for people not needing to be pampered.

I did not like this property at all. It didn’t have the basic necessities such as running water, hot water, not enough toiletries and no air conditioning. There were no facilities to make a simple tea or coffee in the morning. To top it all off, the beds were extremely uncomfortable and the place was infested with mosquitos. Our whole family was bitten and we don’t know if we are carrying any mosquito-born diseases overseas.

I like the the owner was there to receive me and show me my room. He was also pleasant.
In terms of security it's extremely dangerous as it's very secluded and should have some form of physical security.
The odour of the animals in the property was very overpowering and atrocious. The presence of the animals was all over by the stench that took over the place.
The pictures displayed on the internet are not recent as the place look unkempt and run down. I would never ever think about having breakfast there..
The rooms had no way of even warming some thing to eat or keeping something cool. It was not worth my 58US. If it was refundable I would not stay there. I would find another place to stay.
Another thing that was upsetting to me is though the room was clean enough and smell clean when I tried my skin with towels that appeared clean fur or hair from the animals came off on my skin. I felt so unclean and I was really just glad to leave that place.
He need to get that place up to better standards. It was not fear for me to have paid even one dollar for something like that.
I would not think of going back there even though the owner was pleasant enough. The stench of animals getting to my room was a major turn off. Plus he needs to label the enter and exit doors.

You really need a car as it is a long way from anywhere and taxis are expensive. There is no food close by and no fridge. The room is no frills with a fan. John is a nice guy. If you want aircon, tv, fridge, hot shower water, facilities go somewhere else
When she opened the door I saw the lizard run underneath the bed. No AC and no screens on the windows?! I’m not happy with mosquitoes feasting on me as all of the windows couldn’t even close shut. The room looked worse than a US Motel 8. There were bars on the windows and door on inside of the room...why? The kind of bars you’d find outside of a unit. The host was sweet but come on...you couldn’t even spare a nice room for us? Awful!

Nice Hotel in quiet area, love the fruit trees.
Overall experience was lovely and I would definitely visit again, and also recommend the Culture House to my friends and family..
Very friendly explained me what all to do in the island. Had great mangoes from his backyard. Price was good. Not in the center, but well accessible via taxi.
Overall good stay and will recommend to others.
Interesting to know how are hotels rated 1*-5*. No hot water available, yet to see restaurant and bar, no tiding of room during my stay. Poor lighting around building. Suitable for persons willing to pay about $25us per day. Certainly not $65us
