Great central location but could be much better!
We were really impressed by the central location, great for popping out for a drink or mooch then heading back whenever we liked. I was disappointed by the cleanliness of the room, especially the bathroom. The decor is a little odd, it could be a really stunning place, just needs a bit more love. We had a great waitress for breakfast, but the people on the main reception were always a bit blunt/flat. Ok for a stay which cost half as much, but left us a little wanting overall for the amount we paid...

Great location, nice bar and restaurant. Room could have done with a bit of updating and we were right next to the air vents with blurred out windows so no view and quite noisy.

Well at least the room was warm....eventually
We were assigned a lower quality room than we paid for. When we addressed this with the staff, they lied about the accommodations and said we were given a room with a king bed...but there is an obvious difference between a "king" and the provided double mattress. The heater didn't work in the room, but we were told it would be "reset", obviously the space heater in the room before our arrival told us it would not be fixed. After much discussion, we were finally given a room with a working heater and away from the noisy alley. We were also given complimentary drinks for our trouble, but when we redeemed them, we were given trouble for trying to get drinks. Overall poor experience and left feeling like we dodged a bait and switch. There weren't pros on this trip and the stay was exhausting because of the blatant lies.

Stayed there on Christmas and couldn’t get a meal at the restaurant on site because we didn’t have reservations but only 2 tables actually had people eating with an otherwise empty restaurant. Everything else in town was closed.

The location of the hotel was excellent, very central and convenient but the price charged for the accommodation was ridiculously expensive. The reception staff were not friendly, the rooms were small and the breakfast was run by staff who suggested you got your own cup of tea! Porridge was served with watercress on top! The bar area was then closed to residents for a private function both nights we stayed, this meant no lounge areas available. This hotel could be worthy of the amount they current charge, but presently leaves a lot to be desired- would not recommend and will not return.

The property is in a great location, the check in was very vague, no information about where our was room was, no information about check out/ breakfast times and so forth. Our accommodation was located in the basement, absolutely dismal nights sleep, could hear the creaks of the stairs and people outside, the emergency exit door/ fire door was located right outside our room and opened and slammed shut all night! We had to walk through the restaurant to gain access to and from our room. Breakfast was mediocre, food was cold, service very slow and cleanliness a lot to be desired, all in all a really disappointing experience, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Lovely room.
Really lovely hotel. We had a great 2 night stay in a lovely room. Sll the staff were lovely and friendly. The room was comfortable, particularly the bed. With a great, modern bathroom. We really enjoyed our drink in the bar, and breakfast which was well worth the money. The hotel it in a great position. Just down the road from the Abbey, Roman baths and Pultney Bridge. With Sally Lunns a must see and almost opposite. Only down side was the incredibly loud door slams from other rooms nearby. Led to some disturbed nights sleep.

We were uncomfortable during our stay because the heating is not working although it is on. The staff did not attempt to cone to the room to fix the problem. We were told to complain on line and thiis is difficult for us because we dont know how. We are noth elderly i am 78 years old and my partner is 85 years old. A portable electric heater would have been offered. We would like a refund for the unsatisfactory service.

Great location for the city centre. All the staff are super friendly and helpful. We had our dog with us and she was spoilt with treats by the staff in the bar. We had a basement room that was really quiet and lovely and dark overnight. The bed was comfy and the shower was great. Huge bathroom!
