A fantastic stay. Great location for the exciting city of Bath, all aspects of our stay were exceptional, except one. The evening meal was overpriced. It is routine to pay such prices at really top quality restaurants, but the food was good, but no more. The image of excellence was attempted by use of ridiculously small portions. We dined in the hotel one night only. The room was superb, location fantastic, and a professional service throughout. Breakfast very good too. Thank you.

Drop in standards

Staff were very polite and friendly. Room was a large double with a balcony. Overall the room was clean but the balcony door and sash windows need some repair as parts of the locking mechanism were missing or broken. Air conditioning didn't cool only circulated the air or heated it which made for an uncomfortable night. The bathroom also didn't seem to have a working extractor fan. Spa facilities were quite tired. The steam room had multiple loose tiles that were scattered across the room. The salt infusion room didn't seem to work and neither did one of the showers. The outdoor pool was also tired and in need of some repair. We came here several years ago and we're blown away with the room and spa, but it seems like the standard has dropped. It's still a great location with free parking and beautiful surroundings.

This hotel should not be rated 5 star

The rooms and bed are large and comfortable, but there are significant signs of wear and tear in the bathroom and wardrobe. No problems checking in as we didn't arrive until 7pm. There was only one lift working throughout our stay. Our second day at the hotel was when problems started. Breakfast if a mixture of buffet and waiter service. Toast was bought to us immediately, but they do not lay the tables with side plates, therefore we needed to hunt for them. The layout of the buffet makes no sense as plates are not with the jams either! And there are no extra spoons. Cook breakfast is small (1/2 mushroom, 1/2 black pudding, 1 sausage and 1 bacon, 1/2 tomato and some baked beans and there is extra charge for anything other than a cook breakfast ie: Eggs Benedict. Plates are hot, but food is cold. Later we were unable to get back into our room because our keys had only been programmed with 1 night stay on check in and once in, we discovered our room had not been serviced. Our breakfast on out last day was even worse as service was very slow and waiting staff were bringing breakfasts to the wrong tables. There was a very long wait for food. We were not given toast straight away-good, we were offered it with our cooked breakfast. Brilliant, however it did not arrive, we asked for it 3 times. Staff need to take time to experience breakfast for themselves and make changes. Ie lay a side plate and salt & pepper on each table. Add extra spoons on the buffet.

Lovely hotel

Lovely quality hotel with great attentive staff. Easy walking distance into Bath. So great location. The pool and spa area is looking a little tired. Some of the mosaic tiles are missing around the outside pool and because of this my hair was pulled a bit when it got caught in one of the gaps. Would be good if this is looked into

Enjoyable Easter Break.

My wife & myself spent 2 nights. The room was very nice, with a mix of traditional & modern elements. We had Easter lunch, which was excellent. The spa is a must to visit, the hydro-pool was a very pleasant surprise. Staff were very friendly & helpful throughout our stay. Very well situated for visiting Bath, with the bonus of hotel parking.
