The corridors are dirty and dusty. The rooms a worn out and outdated. A/C didn't seem to work. Staff speaks a little English.

Bad hotel experience
Worst hotel experience I've ever had. The rooms were dirty (dirty carpet floor) and the beds were rock hard. And only 2 of the staff speaks english. However the worst part was the trip we got arranged with the receptionist to the Great Wall. Massive scam. She took us up some illegal way and had us climbing the fence to get on to the wall (saved money on not buying us our tickets). Because she worked in the hotel we trusted her. However, after we came back to hotel we were pretty upset and got it all refunded. They also had a tour to the wall that takes you to lots of places and not just to the great wall (they will say only to great wall though to sell it to you). So, if you are planning on going to the great wall- get a different hotel where they actually listen to what you want and what you don't want.

Good for the price, great location. The location is not where it says on the maps.

The front desk and restaurant staff need to be more proficient in English to provide a better service to foreigners. I found the carpet and the bathroom in my room not being very clean. The variety of food in the breakfast buffet was good. The hotel should provide a better map and directions of how to get to the hotel from the nearest train/bus station.

Good location
I supposed to stay for 2 nights but my flight was delayed due to bad weather. So I stayed only 1 night with late check in but the staff found me the guide tour for short time notice.

Stay for the Location, Not the Service
We got the room that was without the window and was a big mistake. The room was stuffy, the carpet was dirty and the bed was extremely hard. We had no choice but to give feedback to the staff. The condition was made worse when the air-con system was not working at its best. The hotel finally relented and changed another room for us. The staff at the counter was not friendly and could not provide us with basic directions to the different tourist attractions despite the fact that I can converse in good mandarin - e.g. question on how to get to the Great Wall of China was met with "I am not sure because I have never been there before." When I asked the tourist attractions around the hotel, the front desk personnel retorted," You need to know where you want to go before I can give you the direction!"

One Happy Week in Beijing
Had a happy self-exploring week in Beijing, with fine weather and lots of sightseeing opportunities. Hiked the Great Wall twice, once at Jinshanling and then at Mutianyu again. Lovely fall colors on the hills and at the parks. Met some friendly locals who gave us free tour of the historic Drum and Bell Towers and other interesting areas. Sampled some of their local foods and the famous Peking Duck. Lots of fond memories and many beautiful photos. Our overall experience was impressive.

Old and uncomfortable hotel room
Not recommended as it was very uncomfortable. The washroom's shower had no segregation so once you took a shower, your entire bathroom was completely wet on the floors. The beds were extremely uncomfortable, one of the beds was literally just a boxspring. The room looked very very old - needs an upgrade for sure. Would not stay here again.

Worst hotel
Lobby looks nice but the room is bad. Carpet was teared apart across the room, smells bad, air conditioning water dripped over night for 3 days that we stayed there. The rooms is not clean and disgusting. Not worth $70/night

Old Very Unclean Less than One Star Hotel
Not a foreign tourist friendly hotel. Only one person on the entire staff spoke English. Extremely dirty floor, bathroom had strong urine smell. Shower/water faucet was leaking so the floor would flood every time. Carpet was old, broken up and full of hair the bed only had a spring box, no real mattress. The lobby was remodeled but the rooms and hallway deserve a less than one star rating. We staid in Shanghai on a (real) four star hotel for the same price after this one. Please do not stay in this Hotel

Great location
We arrived at around 10pm and although we had reserved a double room we were given a twin room. We had to wait until the second night to change our room. Hotel staff really helpful but only some speak english. Bed was comfortable and clean but carpet was filthy. Shower in bath was difficult to adjust and the bath tap would still run! Best thing is the location here, you can walk to Tianamon Square, Forbidden City, Wangfujing shops and also not too far from other places by taxi.

Not great
First, the check-in staff didn't seem to know how to handle an Expedia reservation. It took almost an hour to get my room. I had a print out of my reservation, I pulled up the email confirmation, and the app. Nothing helped. The English language skills of the staff working at that time were not so good. Second, the room itself was not really what Americans would expect. There was a smell coming from one or both of the drains in the bathroom. There was a small exposed hole in the wall behind the bed with some wires sticking out. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. Other than that, I was generally satisfied. The location was pretty good for the price. If you're on a budget and want to be near some of the prime sightseeing spots this is a good choice. I very much enjoyed late night walks to Tienanmen Square. Other than that, you're within about a five minute walk to the Chongwenmen station on Line 2.

Confirm your room before you show up.
When I arrived they didn't have my hotels.com reservation. I had to call internationally hotels.com so they could fax them my confirmed room. So I wasted 1/2 hour of my time when it should have taken 5 minutes to check in. The room was ok and had to call for towels since none were in the room. The floors were sticky, grimy and moist in spots. I was afraid to walk barefoot on the carpet. Overall, it was ok but I will look elsewhere next time. The breakfast was decent though for the price.

Great Price - Excellent Staff and Location
Location is always a huge deciding factor for my wife and I when we book hotels overseas. Being our first trip to China, we wanted to be near all of the major tourist sites such as the Forbidden City and Ti'anneman Square while also keeping in close proximity of public transportation should the need to take it arise. This hotel delivers in that respect, and their staff is wonderful to work with. While only a few staff members speak English, they go well out of their way to make sure your needs are met. The only negatives we can really speak of are with regards to the rooms themselves, which could use some new carpeting and a fresh coat of paint. However, if you are like us and rarely spend any time in your room to begin with, then this hotel delivers good, reasonably priced accommodations in an excellent location.

Grubby but effective
It's a bit grubby around the edges but it is functional and very central. The English spoken by the staff is a bit hit-and-miss. Note that it's not where Google says it is. It's about 10-15 minutes' walk south of Wangfujing subway station, on Dong Jiao Min Xiang street. It's close to the old French post office.

Expected more from the Hotel, they have a really good photographer because the hotel does not look anything like the pictures. Hard beds, dirty bathroom. The only good thing is the location.
