I have stayed at Shilo Inns frequently in the past when I was traveling throughout the Northwest for business or personal travel. I have appreciated the value and convenience of most visits, however, this occasion was very disappointing. It seems Shilo Inns are barely hanging on, having cut many amenities that were familiar in the past, such as breakfast, open swimming pools, clean and comfortable rooms. On this visit I learned Shilo does not provide daily breakfasts any longer. Also, the toilet in my room was malfunctioning, the flush valve running every few seconds the entire stay. In addition, when I checked in there was no remote for the television in the room, luckily the front-desk clerk brought one over, and when that one did not work, she was able to go to another room and find one that did work. At least the customer service was appreciated. And probably the worst element of my one-night stay was, when I crawled into bed Saturday night after a fun evening partying at a wedding, I felt something peculiar rub against my leg. I was wearing shorts, and when I pulled back the covers I discovered a used, crumpled up bandaid between the sheets. The bandaid was not mine. I disposed of the item and debated alerting management that perhaps the sheets had NOT been changed prior to my reservation, but as it was nearly midnight I did not have the energy to deal with this situation at that time.
Suffice it to say, due to these issues I will likely not stay at Shilo Inn again.
