Okay, but not great
This could have been a much better experience - all our negatives are easily fixable things except for the noise. Pros: great location - all the things you’d want and need are nearby, clean rooms, heated bathroom floors, good breakfast. Cons: while the location is good for getting around, it was next to a bar that would get quite noisy around 2:00am and last a while on Fri and Sat nights; and while the bed was comfy, the pillows provided made for tough sleeping- one was tiny and flat and one was sooo big; bedside tables were ottomans which is just weird as things tend to fall off; as for the breakfast, they did offer a nice variety however, the items that should’ve been warm, such as eggs were often quite cold. ; no counter space in the bathroom despite having plenty of room to accommodate that; toilet was so high my feet dangled when sitting. The problem may have been we were put in an accessible room, though we didn’t need it. Based on this experience, we would not stay here again.

Don't understand all the outstanding reviews. Yes the breakfast is good but not better that anything offered by similar hotels in the area. Rooms are small and noisy, often heard noise from neighboring rooms. Some of the staff could be more customer service focused.

Great stay. Needed to change room to one with shower and it was arranged for next day as we arrived late and hotel was very full. Staff was very helpful and left a card and chocolates for the inconvenience. Good breakfast, comfortable beds. Great location in Bryggen. Older hotel but nicely redone. Would definitely recommend.

A great location in Bergen. Reception staff are welcoming and very helpful. Windows open, so it is possible to enjoy cool fresh Bergen air. We stayed twice in two weeks for two nights on each ocassion, both times in "Superior" rooms. The first room was excellent, high on the corner overlooking Bryggen, the second room on the same corner overlooking Bryggen, was very good but slightly tired in comparison to the first. The duvets are incredibly thick so we needed the windows open at night, and the pillows took time to get used to. Noise from Bergen Bryggen youth nightlife is a feature of the area, but you need to put up with it for the convenient central location. Breakfast is always a good feature of Thon hotels, but some more descriptive labelling would be welcomed. We thought it worthwhile paying the extra for a Superior room and would recommend if your budget can stretch to it.

Great location next to the Bryggen and set back from the local nightlife meaning it is not as loud on the weekends as other hotels closer to the harbour.
