Excellent stay. The family room we stayed in was huge !!! Nice little separate area for the kids to sleep in yet still in the same room so we didn’t have to worry about them at the same time as them having a little privacy. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful.
Staff were polite and helpful.
Our room was clean, teas and coffees supplied and was bed comfortable. The hotel is situated in a convenient for Oxford and Blenheim Palace
We arrived Sunday afternoon dinner in the restaurant closed at 8pm so we went to the bar 7.20ish for a drink and meal only to be told the restaurant was shut due to it being a quiet evening this meant driving 7 miles to find somewhere to eat
When I said we should have been informed of this when we checked in the receptionist advised she hadn’t known herself
We went for breakfast cold scrambled eggs dried up bacon aand a coffee machine not working did not improve my mood
On check out I asked to speak to a manager or in charge member of staff the receptionist enquired why and I explained the above. She then told me it was planned maintenance and there was a sign on reception . If I’d asked I would have been told this
I now have been told 2 different reasons for the restaurant being closed
If this was planned then I feel this information should have been emailed to me so we could have either brought cold snacks or more likely changed our booking
I was left with the impression that it was our fault and we should have understood these things happen
Felt really let down with the service we were given and how this matter was handled
I don't often review hotels on Expedia but I stayed here last week and it was lovely.
The room (54) was perfect and the restaurant ambience and food and wine great.
The breakfast was fab too
The staff were excellent, all being friendly and efficient except for the one member of staff who greeted us when we arrived around 9.30pm. He was outside vaping I think, and was rather boorish and unhelpful. He was however, the only staff member like that so a poor initial impression was very much corrected the following day. The room was cold on arrival (our stay was late November) as they had not put the heating on in the room, but when mentioned to the receptionist when we left, she was clearly receptive to knowing and appeared tor make a note. Breakfast was excellent and we also had dinner one evening which was good. Would stay again if in that area.
The hotel was a perfect location and the room was clean & spacious. Great parking and easy to find. The food at the hotel was ok, my fish and chips was sadly lacking fish & a taste. However my better half had pork shoulder that she really enjoyed.
My own problem was the doors to the room never cut out any noise. The door slamming though out the night in the opposite room, over & over again. The loud talking in the corridor outside our room well into the early hours.
