We arrived at the hotel an hour earlier than checkin and were told the room was not ready. We sat in reception for 40 mins and watched other guests arrive after us and check in straight away. When questioned we were told the room was ready to get there and find door wide open, step ladder with some poisonous substance on it and the room smelt of a bleach type substance. We went back down to reception and were given another room. We were given a drinks voucher as an apology. Duty manager Monika was polite but didn’t know how to deal with the situation and I felt that my whole stay at this hotel was ruined from the start. Plus FYI - there is building work going on outside which we weren’t aware of.

All staff were very friendly and hotel was clean. I was staying due to my anniversary and the hotel left a card and some chocolates as a gift. The only down side is parking is a bit of a walk away and quite expensive.

We have stayed in this hotel on every visit to Birmingham, it is consistently good, very convenient for the city centre, the staff are efficient, and the room is clean and perfect. We have not used any dining or breakfast options, so we cannot judge the food.
