We really wanted to like the Porter Square Hotel. We were hoping to find a go-to hotel for the next 5 years while are oldest son is going to college in the area. But this isn't it. The room was just too small. The listing said it would be 200 square feet+, but after spending a night running into our suitcases, we decided to measure it. We measured about 120 to 130 square feet, which is significantly less than we thought we were getting. There is no place to put suitcases without running into them. The closet is a sort of peg on the wall that maybe holds 5 or 6 hangers. No fridge or microwave in the room. (Although there is a shared microwave and fridge in the basement lounge area.) The building was nice. Staff was fine, but indifferent. Hotel restaurant was very good and had great decor. The neighborhood is great, with lots of convenient shopping and restaurants nearby. Walking distance to Harvard and Tufts.

The hotel is good but very ordinary in a great location. Our use was a very simple overnight stay for an event in Arlington, and it worked well

Although the room was on the small side, it was well appointed, functionable, and quiet. Pillows were very comfortable and room temp was easy to regulate. Staff was helpful and valet parking was easy and timely. Would definitely stay here again. Didn’t eat in the restaurant but the menu looked interesting.

Perfect spot for exploring both Cambridge and Boston. Red line is right out the door but it's a cool neighborhood on its own. Plenty of coffee bars and restaurants. It was very quiet and safe too. Had cheap valet parking so we left the car

Excellent hotel, close to Harvard University and easy access to downtown Boston (near the Red Line train station so there is no need to drive your car). Personel of the hotel is very nice and helpful. I will stay at this hotel any time I visit Cambridge and/Boston. Highly recommend!
