Quirky, but in a good location

This hotel is in a great location to most of the tourist sites in Boston. The rooms are large and well appointed. The first room assigned to us had a portable window unit with an exhaust hose extending out of the window. When I complained, the front desk staff told me that "all of the rooms are like that." When I told them that this is unacceptable, I was "upgraded" to a room with standard air conditioning.

The location is very walkable and makes it easy to explore the city, which was a big plus. However, for the $1k+ price we paid for only two nights and the fact that it’s listed as a 4-star hotel, I expected a higher standard of cleanliness and maintenance. Upon entering the bathroom, I immediately noticed a wet, dirty towel left inside the sink. The wall next to the toilet had what appeared to be lotion or residue smeared on it. There was visible mold and mildew throughout the bathroom, particularly in the shower area and on the shower curtain. I also found a pretty large yellow stain on the right side of my bed sheet Additionally, we were surprised to find a large pane of glass—possibly from a window—leaning against the wall near the AC unit and desk, which felt unsafe and out of place.

Rented two rooms for family for a graduation. We have stayed at this hotel numerous times. Neighborhood is lovely. The hotel rooms are large. The beds are comfortable.Great price too

The property was clean enough. Added fees for "location" was ridiculous, $30/night on top of original cost. Beware.The resteraunt attached was such a let down. Overpriced and unedible served in styrofoam. No fresh coffee in the 3 mornings we stayed and desk staff didnt care at all. The concierge were really nice though. And the front lobby was pretty. Definitely not worth the cost.

A Depreciated Asset

Back to Bostonian after 30 years. Time has not been good to one of our best, go to, spots in Boston. We remember the Bostonian and Seasons Restaurant as the homes of Jasper White, Lydia Shire et al. Today, thss ad t exceptional venue is an afterthought and it is very sad. Additionally, the rooms are an absolute mess! Broken windows, wallpaper coming down and VERY tired decor. Obviously, nobody seems to care with ownership. We had dinner next door at the new Canopy Hotel that was fabulous! As Thomas Wolfe once said, “you can’t go home again”, sadly. I will say that the staff was quite good but, they knew of the problems.
