Overall, we enjoyed our stay very clean & the suite was a nice layout. I was a little taken aback by no elevator as we were on the third floor. My husband had to carry our luggage up the two flights of stairs. Also, we had to use the back entrance as the front wasn’t available which wasn’t terrible but when taking Ubers it would be nice to go right out the front doors especially at night.

Lovely room with a comfortable bed and Roku access to watch TV on a rainy morning prior to our departure for Salem tours. Breakfast healthy options of three kinds of granola, two kinds of yogurt, variety fruit cup and a variety of breads and muffins… coffee tea or water. Plenty of parking and a short drive to a variety of restaurants. Salem is only a 10-15 minute drive away

Front desk staff was unprofessional and not welcoming upon arrival, which we found weird at a bed and breakfast. It's a very old place, as are a lot of the options in the area, so we weren't surprised to find some quirks. However, there was no dead bolt on our door which had a gap in the top of about 1/2inch. Disconcerting to say the least! Other than that, the room was spacious, the bed was comfy and there amenities were well appreciated! The breakfast in the morning was wonderful with fresh cut fruit, yogurt and granola to balance out the heavy fare in Salem.

We stayed for one night after exploring Salem. After hours check-in was easy. Convenient parking. Rooms were well appointed and comfy bed. Wonderful dining just down the road—highly recommend the Elia Taverna for dinner.

Staff was decent, the hotel was supposed to do light housekeeping and no housekeeping was provided during the whole trip. I had to make my own bed every day and throw my own trash away also due to the room not having a trash can in the room. Only had a small trash can in the bathroom, the room was also poorly decorated and the fridge was on the floor and not even on a stand.

We arrived early to explore Salem but no one was at the front desk, so we quietly used the lobby restroom to freshen up. We were whispering and careful with our luggage when an employee came out, didn’t greet us, I asked about checking in and said with an attitude, “We’re not even open yet, it’s way too early,” before walking away. Another guest came out complaining and began talking about us with the employee as if we weren’t there, which made us feel unwelcome from the start. Their check-in window is only 4–6 p.m., and no one is on-site overnight. The only reason we entered that morning was because another guest left the door unlocked, which normally requires a code. When I asked about luggage storage since we’d return after hours, I was told it would be kept behind the desk and placed in our room later, with the key left in an envelope — not secure. When we came back, our luggage was sitting in the lobby with a sticky note and our room number. Luckily, nothing was missing. The next day, two new employees were much kinder. Later, we were told maintenance needed to fix our toilet, but afterward it worked worse, and with no staff around, we had to use the lobby restroom. The beds were comfortable, breakfast was good, and the location was close to Salem, but the poor hospitality, lack of security, and limited hours made us feel uneasy. If staff were more welcoming and procedures safer, our stay could’ve been much better.

Debbie, the manager, was outstanding! Light breakfast and parking was good. Since reasonable accommodations, in Marblehead, are hard to come by, this was a good choice aside from thin walls.
