It’s sadly gone downhill
The hotel is clearly in need of some investment. The staff were friendly and nice but being a returning guest we were sadly disappointed at a number of things.
The hotel did not have hot water from around 3pm on the Saturday until our departure on the Sunday. These things happen but there was no communication from the front of house staff as to the problem or any resolution they were seeking.
Our room then had water coming through the ceiling during the night and so the night manager moved us to a new room and stated we would be credited for that night. He was helpful and friendly but did state they had that problem the previous week so it was a known issue.
We ate at the on site restaurant on Saturday. For a two rosette AA rated place it was at best average and not worth the money. It wasnt helped by poor front of house service. For the wines they only had 2 of 5 available as bottles and when we asked the waiter what the wine was like he didn’t know. The food was generally ok but we had better at a standard Restuarant the night before and then whilst we were still eating one of the staff started to spray and clean tables just a few feet away, clearly they didn’t want us to enjoy the desert or have any after dinner drinks.
At checkout on the Sunday when we raised the issues the assistant manageress tried to fob us off with free parking for all the issues, then stating she couldn’t credit us due to not booking directly. Thankfully we did get our credit.
