Not great and would not stay again. Needs some TLC
Okay, but very tired. The double bed had a depression in it that I had back pains in the morning and the single bed is only for very small children and not young teenagers. People were smoking in other rooms so it smelt in the corridors , the lift did not work and neither Did the air con. There was a portable fan in the room but it was dusty and the room had a musky smell. Our window was blocked by a flat roof with no view and little opening for fresh air, which is disappointing since I booked this hotel 12 months ago and we felt like we had been shoehorned in last minute. It looks like some money has been spent superficially , the bathroom was nice but the finer details are poor for example a badly damaged painted bath panel straight from the 70’s school of decoration. We paid extra for the cooked breakfast which entailed one sausage one very small ration of bacon, a table spoon of beans and mushrooms and one egg scrambled and dry. The continelnal was not topped up so the earlier guests had eat all the pastries, cereal and bread and what was left was simply our choice. I didn’t ask for it to be topped up simply as I shouldn’t have too . So it was an okay stay, nothing special but as we stay in bournouth every year I don’t think I would stay here again.
We stayed in the master suite for a couple of nights. It was very nice and great for what we needed. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Would love to know the make of the mattress as the bed was possibly the comfiest I've ever slept in!
Lovely reception and breakfast. Lift was out of order and we were not notified before, not offered any help. Triple room felt a bit essential considering the price. They charge £10 for parking overnight inside the property.

A little strict on checking in - want to charge if arriving early so we had to wait for the exact time to get our room
I've stayed here a few times now. Bear in mind that they have now started charging for parking at an additional £10 per night which is a shame and I didn't see it mentioned in the hotel description. Lovely hotel and the staff were super nice when my car broke down, the receptionist even made me a free coffee while I was waiting for the RAC. I'd definitely stay there again but factor the parking into the price.
Great service, comfortable room. Slightly worn decor and hallway somewhat noisy but this didn’t really affect our stay and was balanced out by how helpful and attentive the staff were.
AWFUL STAY!
Stayed 2 nights. Bad stay on 2nd night as kept awake all night with rowdy/fighting guests in bar beneath our room.
Started at 11:50pm with guests standing outside the main entrance drinking, smoking and talking loudly. Tried to call reception on numerous occasions but no answer. Husband had to go to the bar at 3:30am to complain to barman and ask for them to quieten down, this never happened! Ended at 6:10am when the two guests had a very heated argument/fight with swearing at the top of their voices!
Reported to male receptionist F at front desk at 9 am, said he was aware of the rowdy guests who had run up a bar bill without paying and then checked out, so the staff were fully aware of the situation that had happened during the night.
We were told to email the hotel manager Rose G which I did the next morning, no response! I then emailed through Expedia and had a short response from female C to say the email was not received but no new email address provided so sent the explanation/complaint through Expedia (who I had also informed about the stay) so I know the hotel would see these messages. In total I have sent 10 emails, made 2 phone calls and was told someone would contact me back....it has now been over 3 months since this started and NOT ONE RESPONSE OR CONTACT FROM ANYONE AT THE ORCHID HOTEL.
I cannot believe all the glowing reviews about certain members of staff, all I can say is you are very lucky!
No wonder the hotel is being sold off...AVOID!
