The proximity to the beaches was superb, and the little café had nice food and very friendly. The living conditions were very beachhouse but totally adequate for our needs.
The location is beautiful, the restaurant also, however the cabin we stayed in was really uncomfortable - the bed left me with back issues and pain and I had to see a physiotherapist and doctor for pain medication. The room was not very clean as there was sand on the floor. The air con didn't work well, one of the windows didn't close properly, and the outside awning was not properly tightened so the wind blowing made the awning constantly flap and the noise made it hard for my young child to rest.
The location is perfect for family's. The cabins are cute and also great for families. The cabins are a little aged and may need a new coat of paint but still great to stay in.
We were told off for using Wotif to make our booking. The room was smelly on arrival (musty) and we had to sweep the floor and wipe down the outside table.
The rules around the swimming pool put you off using the pool, $20.00 for a pool cue in the recreation room which to be honest was more like a junk storage room. Then we were concerned that we would be charged for leaving any rubbish in the rubbish bin that we took it with us.
The shower block was very clean, and the room was comfortable, although a suggestion would be to update the drawers and cupbords, also put rubber mats on each step,to help with wet weather.
Oveall,we enjoyed our stay, and the Peacock was a bonus!!!!.
Loved the cafe on the beach front and that there are food options in walking distance from accommodation. I enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing stay. Liked that there was a pool to use as well.
A stunning spot in the best part of Bowen. We stayed in a colourful beach view stand alone unit which was well equipped and spacious for just the two of us. The pool area is a bit tired and in need of some modernising. We attempted to use what we thought was a BBQ but it was in a state of disrepair. We had issues with the main TV in the lounge area with many of the buttons on the remote not working. Fortunately there was another TV in the bedroom that worked fine. Bowen itself has limited dining and shopping so just be aware of that. For a casual mean, go to Birdy's fish and chips at the wharf. You can dine out that back overlooking the boats and the sunset. Pretty nice.
The location was fantastic, right on the beach and close to a great little cafe!! Mid week and it was fully booked out for dinner before 4pm!! Had to have take away, just as good. Great service and delicious meals. The unit was clean and great outlook over the ocean. Very pleased with our stay. We will be back for a longer stay!!
Stayed in a cabin which would sleep 6. It was clean, roomy, air con worked great and had the basic kitchen utensils you need. Plenty of towels. Mattress was very firm and pillows very flat. However it is close to beach access and as we had friends also staying we did not spend much time in it.
The shared amenities need upgrading and the pool area is desperately needing a do over and bringing out of the 80’s. New furniture, more shade and a bit of greenery would make it more appealing to sit around rather than a quick jump in and out. The TV/ games room looks like it hadn’t been utilised for a long time and was quite dingy.
The park gardens and grounds are all well
maintained.
The lady at checkin was very abrupt from
the moment I entered the reception area and not welcoming at all and came across rude. She did not give me a chance to do the Check in app before asking if I had already done so and was very rude when I had not previously done the online covid form. They have hard copies there to do which would be more up to date info anyway.
Friends who had checked in previously also had same opinion of her customer service so not just a bad day.
The cafe directly next door is great and had live music Friday night & Sunday afternoon.
We would stay again
