The entrance and staff were nice. The room looked very old, even though it had been completely modernized. The room has everything but was not soundproofed so we were woken when the people above came in at night. Then the hall and loud weird noises in the night. Not making for a good place to rest before we travel the early next morning

Lots to not be happy about here, stained sheets, dirty carpet and bathroom, old and dated furniture and little to no amenities. The night porter was a top guy but the receptionist in the day couldn’t have been less interested, think she needed to close solitaire to check me in…..

Staff friendly main reception area lovely. The thing that let the hotel down was the condition of the carpets which has stains all over it in both our rooms, I also heard a guest complaining about this at reception too. Only thing that let the hotel down staff friendly and location great.

Hotel and staff were nice however the room was very small and the air conditioner wasn’t working properly and the room had no proper window and was extremely hot and we got cooked with no air con and no proper window to air out.

Good experience, room very well ordered, clean, likewise bathroom. Could do with luggage rack. Reception staff, housekeeping and catering staff were very helpful, cheerful and professionable. Good choice at both breakfasts.

This hotel is in a good location and is right on the beach, with the Brighton i360 only a short walk away. Some things to note. The front part of the hotel looks great but if rear is looking tired and could do with a refurbishment. I paid extra for a privilege room but again found it to be tired, unclean (e.g. black mould on the majority of the bathroom tiles) and the light switch to the bathroom was faulty. If you are planning to use their car park, make sure you tell the hotel in advance, as you need to reserve, something that wasn’t clear when booking. Despite all this, the front of house staff were friendly.

Extremely Disappointed – Not What You’d Expect from a Mercure Hotel I’m honestly shocked at how poor our experience was at the Mercure Brighton. We checked in late on Thursday night around 9:45pm and were initially given a room that was absolutely not up to standard. The duvet had what looked like blood stains on it, the walls were crumbling and just lazily painted over, and the carpet was heavily stained throughout. I went straight to the front desk to raise the issue, and while the staff did offer to move us to a “better room”, the new room was somehow worse. It had no window whatsoever, which meant it was boiling hot, with no air circulation at all. To make matters worse, we had pigeons cooing loudly throughout the night, making it near impossible to sleep. Then, just to top it off, the fire alarm randomly went off at 1:52am, blared for a few loud rings, and then stopped abruptly with no explanation or follow-up. It felt completely disorganised and unsafe. We paid £282 for a two-night stay, and frankly, it did not reflect the quality you’d expect for that price — especially from a hotel carrying the Mercure name. This wasn’t just a disappointing room — it was a disappointing experience from start to finish. We left feeling frustrated, uncomfortable, and completely let down. We expected so much better. I honestly wouldn’t return, and it’s made me seriously question the standard of the Mercure brand as a whole

The Hotel was very nice, lobby restaurants bar outside sitting area, also the staff,the let down was the room 207 you wouldn’t need to be disabled if you got the lift to the 2nd floor you had to got down stairs if you got off at the first floor you had to go up stairs really strange then the bedroom not a lot of room for 2, it was clean but you had to go up 3 steps to the bathroom the toilet was sitting on a step you were very lucky if your feet touch the ground, no air conditioning in all that heat but they did supply 2 fans, try to change with no joy. We still managed to enjoy Brighton
