I am glad I found Meriton—this is my first time in Australia—by chance, what got my attention was the the jr suite that comes with washer and dryer because we have a long journey, by the time I got to Sydney and Brisbane we have been traveling for over 5 weeks so the washer and dryer would definitely be a plus. I was so please with everything that Meriton has to offer, it feels like home away from home. Thank you Meriton!

Insane elevators beware major issues

Elevators are a major concern with no floor buttons inside and automated floor selections. I was level 69 and initially in morning the elevator did not appear for over 7 minutes, then when I stepped inside, a terrified family said they had been trapped in it for 10 minutes already as it never gets to ground/foyer level. We then spent another 10+ minutes terrifyingly going randomly up and down between floors 74 - 34, most empty of people getting in when the doors opened. I rang the 'emergency' phone only for it to ring out after 4 minutes with an automated voice stating a line fault and communicate by another method, which is impossible inside a moving elevator. When we finally reached ground, rushed out and reported it, the reception staff were oblivious (even though we had been madly gesturing to the camera) and seemed unperturbed and generally nonplussed overall, despite our angst. I ended up being late for a very important meeting as a simple thing like a 3 minute elevator ride took essentially half an hour!!

Checked in early and was able to leave a bag even though the room wasn’t ready. They called me as soon as the room was ready. The rooms are spacious and I love the large floor to ceiling windows. Location is so convenient to city, restaurants and walking.

Could do with makeover

Great view from altitude room on floor 71although lift to the floor was complicated as lift number inside lift did not always correspond with lift location. Rooms certainly were not five star, more three star. Curtain edges were hanging off rail in both bedrooms. Dishwasher was grubby and I found a man’s sock on the floor of one bedroom. One shower was unusable as it leaked water from several places. Overall a disappointing stay.

Air conditioning was on low went to change and batteries were flat in both, everytime we walked out the front entrance for transport there were people everywhere smoking. The level of cleanliness in the room was ordinary. POD machine coffee only and cups wouldn’t fit under the machine. First world problems I know but when u pay the dollars you get expect something better.
