I spent hours trying to get in touch with the hotel team on the day of check-in. I was unable to reach them by phone or via the messaging portal. I ended up calling another Rydges property and asking them to relay a message to return my call, which still didn't work. This was incredibly disappointing.

The room was great and the pool bar nice, however the pool itself must be built in a poor position as most of the day it seemed to be in the shade.

The room was great. The only thing was the check in. After arriving at 3:30pm there was a line up which I understand. Then they make you pay for the room and also put a $100 hold on your card. Then I was told that the room was clean but the supervisor had to check it. We were given a free drink and advised they would call when room was ready. Half an hour later, still no call so went to the counter and was advised that my card did t go through. They advised that they called me but they didn’t. We then got it sorted but didn’t get into our room until 4:30 and had to quickly change to leave to attend our function. That was the only sour note. They need to do all the transactio in one go.

Our check-in experience was less than ideal at the Rydges. Despite arriving with my wife and children, the front desk staff insisted on seeing my wife’s ID, as the reservation was under her name. I provided my own ID, the credit card used for the booking, and a Medicare card showing both our names, but this was not accepted. My wife eventually pulled up an official email from the City of Gold Coast with her name, yet the staff still refused to check us in, stating it wasn’t obvious who she was. Although the hotel eventually allowed us to check in, the process was embarrassing, and the staff were rude and unhelpful throughout. This experience fell far short of the service I expect from the Rydges.
