The place was surprisingly clean for the price and had nice decorative touches that showed that the management really cared about the guest experience. The hot tub was clean and well cared for and a great way to wind down a day of hiking.

My husband and I were traveling through Colorado for a fall foliage road trip when we stayed at Browns Canyon Inn in Salida. The hotel gives a qaint vibe with lots of antiques and character inside and outside. The hot tub area is beautiful. Breakfast was included. There is a restaurant next store,but I would recommend going downtown Salida. Kathy was the host and she was awesome. She is personable, professional and a real joy to be around. She really makes this hotel feel at home.

I have family in Salida now and then I need to stay in a motel and I always choose the Browns Canyon. It is so clean and so well taken care of they have a lovely breakfast served in the lobby in the morning. Don’t hesitate to stay there. It’s wonderful.

Cute Hotel But Pick Your Room

The rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable. It was a good location although there is some road/traffic noise until the town settles down for the night. The staff was friendly and helpful, but I could have used the advice they offered at check-out, when I checked-in. Overall, it was a good value for the area and I might stay at Browns Canyon Inn again providing I could be assured that I had a different room. Unfortunately, we were assigned room 101. Avoid this room unless you suffer from chronic insomnia and are planning to be awake all night anyway. This room is directly under the steps and adjacent to the lobby where breakfast is served between 7-9am. For most of the night you will hear people going up/down the steps, dragging their bags since there’s no elevator, and talking loudly in the lobby. At 6am when they begin set up for breakfast you also have the pleasure of listening to cabinets open and close, and prep materials clang alongside of the staff chatter. In the morning, we complained about how noisy it was with the front desk staff and they suggested that for our next stay, we specifically “request a room on the backside of the hotel, not adjacent to the lobby, and NOT room 101.” They offered apologies for the noise, which we appreciated, but zero concessions.

I stayed here a few years ago and loved it, however this time I was shocked to find the entire building covered in scaffolding and a wheelbarrow full of cement blocking the driveway. The room was fine but it was located near the dining area of the lobby and I was awoken very early by loud people having breakfast, then the construction workers showed up soon after. Management was nowhere to be seen at checkout or I would've complained about paying full price. So disappointing.
