Not ready, but might be good when it is
The good first: the staff were great and the rooms were large for a city centre location.
The hotel opened the day we checked in and it just wasn't ready. I think they had rushed to open before the Stampede and a major convention.
The air conditioning broke down on day two of our stay and didn't come back until day six. The front desk were very apologetic but had no idea when it might be fixed. Fortunately, it was mostly temperate
We didn't receive housekeeping even once during a seven-day stay. When I asked for the garbage to be removed, it was taken away promptly. It didn't bother me, so I reported it but didn't make a fuss.
The pans in the kitchenette didn't work on the induction job they'd installed, but once they figured out what was wrong, new pans came fast.
The valet parking system broke down on day two because the front desk rarely answered the phone during the day. This meant you had to come down to request the car and then wait 15 minutes for it. $50 a day plus tips is also very expensive for a city such as Calgary. Fortunately, there's municipal parking across the street that costs $18 a day.
There are design flaws too. This is meant to be a long-stay hotel, but there's very little hanging space and one of the three tiny drawers is taken up by the Book of Mormon (this is a Marriott) and the Bible
The gym is good for a hotel but the equipment choices seem a bit random.
Overall, the hiring decisions were really good; the rest needs work
