We were looking for a place to stay only a week before our trip and found many of our regular places to stay booked and stayed at the Harkness Brook Inn. What I found was a completely remodeled hotel as it had changed hands from Schooner Bay Motor Inn and reopened only a few weeks before my arrival, even the Expedia description currently indicates “Schooner Bay Motor Inn” in some places.
The good parts of our visit was the helpfulness of the staff and their desire to make our experience a good visit. The place was very clean as the “Clean Team” kept the place tidy and all fixtures/appliances worked well with the remodel. The king sized bed was very comfortable with very little motion transfer to disturb a sleeping partner. The bathroom was very spacious including the shower. They even included USB charging portals on each side of the bed.
Some neutral parts of our visit were the curtains covering the windows were a bit skimpy to keep light out which the outside of the hotel is nicely lit at night. A nice pull down shade between the sheer and darker curtains would be helpful. We also found the lack of amenities/niceties at this hotel for the price. This was the most expensive hotel during our trip, yet was a Plain Jane place offering a clean place to sleep only, with little around, no pool, no breakfast, etc.
The bad part of our visit had to do with the original construction of the hotel not having sound proofing. We unfortunately had upstairs neighbors that were in part
