Convenient and comfortable.

convenient location near to city centre, restaurants and attractions. Pool was warm and pleasant and very well maintained by dedicated staff member who took pride in his role. Nice cosy bar with books to read. Parking is limited but excellent options very close by.

Great location in the centre of town easy to access everything, hotel has all the amenities you expect for novotel, room was spacious and bed was comfortable. I would probably not recommend driving, it was difficult to drop off items as limited drop off bays out the front and car park was full. It was very busy due to school holidays and it was a bit chaotic in the lobby, lifts were slow, we were early and had a great breakfast but people were waiting in line for a table when we left. Overall still a good stay and we had buffet breakfast included in our room rate which made it very good value for money.

The Novotel is in a great location with a light rail stop outside and 2 blocks walk to the shopping centre which has lots of food options.Unfortunately the hotel itself not great. Our room had broken fittings like door stop and towel rail, the furniture was very dated, and hot/cold taps were labelled the wrong way around... a safety issue. The tiny shower/bath was not great. The parking situation is out of control. For 800+ guests there's maybe 100 spots available and they are all taken by the early afternoon so with 2 young kids we had to scramble to drop off at the door with one parent while the other went to the overflow parking around 4 blocks away and walked back in Canberra winter weather, then went to get the car again in the morning to pick up again which wasted 30min each time. Roadworks and closures near the hotel meant driving around the block taking a lot longer and walking to parking a longer way around. The breakfast buffet has a sign telling you at peak times the wait in line for a table is 20min but we found it was around 30min when we stayed. In 4 days the options had not been changed or refreshed once, it was all exactly the same, and one coffee machine was out of service the entire time. The food kept running out and it was hard to find a staff member to help. Each time I asked for sugar and stirrers I was told they should be on the table but a quick look around and you could see no one had any. No pepper in the grinder. Overall would not recommend

The pool is great for the kids after a long day exploring. However, the hotel is dated and they could do better with the quality of food in the restaurant - although very typical of hotel food. Further, the front of house staff really need to be better informed. They couldn’t tell you what bus to catch to Questacon or how to get to the zoo or where to hire bikes. Considering that family's stay here every holidays for these experiences FOH staff need to be confident in delivering this information.

Unhappy Buffett experience

We had a good stay overall, but the breakfast experience during the busy morning period was disappointing due to a lack of supervision at the buffet. The rush wasn’t the issue — it was seeing children unattended around the food. We witnessed kids sniffing dishes, breathing over the buffet while reaching for items, and even putting food back from their plates. It felt unhygienic, and we ate very little out of concern for food safety. As parents of two young children, we would never let them approach a buffet alone. Most hotels have signage requiring children to be with an adult, so it was surprising this wasn’t in place here. A bit more oversight and clearer rules would go a long way in improving the breakfast experience for all guests.

First Saturday of holidays and they only had two staff on reception and not enough cleaners everyone had to wait hours for their room to be ready. Parking is very limited, I got the last one at 2:10pm, room was overpriced but I needed the convenience being close to an event and walking back alone. Room was clean and no smell appreciate that, tv had basic channels staff were lovely and helpful they just needed more of them rostered management made some easy $$ this weekend and took advantage of school holiday peaks.

Be careful, don't stay in this hotel if you drive here. The parking system is a joke. The manager says that it is the way they make money. They can’t even maintain the room clean. Dirt everywhere. Dishwares of the restaurant are so dirty.
