I loved everything about the place. They were doing construction of expansion. Never talked about. It just happened. It didn't bother me by yhe beach but know other travelers leaving the beach to avoid the noise. The resteraunt was quite expensive compared to other local stores along the strip. The hotel was claiming thier own exchange rate on all pricing which was .05 per peso ia the rate. They made up a pricier wxchange. Even cash for pesos on property. That isn't right. Otherwise the people were great. The facility is quite nice. Another issue is no buss line. Take ab uber. Nothing else to the buss line, or where ever. Do not take taxi. Way more expensive. Uber did not have a problem being cheap, quick and easy.

Very unique and creative designs, off the main hotel drive. Was hit by 3 hurricanes last year and lost a beautiful spa building but they expect to have new replacement by the end of year. Only negative road noise and not close to bus route yet but there is a stop built 1/4 mile away. We used Uber that was $5-15 / ride

The hotel is relatively isolated, about three miles (5k) from the more developed strip to the North. There is a paved bike path and sidewalk if you want to walk that far. We did. Although the hotel room was affordable, the restaurant costs and bar were rather inflated, twice the cost of another hotel half a mile up the road. The road noise from the airport highway was at times distracting. There was nothing that could be done about that. Earplugs helped. In general, the staff was courteous, and the rooms were clean. I would rate this hotel a good value, but far from outstanding.

This resort had a lot going for it. The restaurant was good and the decorations were interesting. However, it looked like nothing had been maintained in long time. Stair railings and window casings were loose or missing, stones in the walkway were loose or missing, and there were many many pathways and small areas that were closed. It looked as if a hurricane may have come through and wrecked about a third of the outdoor spaces, and they had not been fixed, only cordoned off. There was a small beach, but there were jellyfish when we were there so we swam in the pool instead and Ubered to the beach to swim. The property isn’t really in the “resort strip”, it’s a bit isolated so you do have to uber or taxi if you want to go anywhere. The breakfast was great and everyone working there was friendly and accommodating. I wish they would have given us a map of the property on check in, as the path to the beach was quite hidden. The A/C was powerful and the wifi worked well. I would recommend splashing out for a pool front room, as we loved being now to go straight from our balcony to the water, it made for a lovely, private experience.

Akuazul is very cool, just needs soundproofing

Really lovely property, unique touches everywhere. Staff friendly and attentive. Uncrowded, had the beach and rooftop pool to ourselves. Nice walkway through mangroves. Nice restaurant for both dinner and breakfast. Only wish there were better room soundproofing from constant road noise. Better seal on door and window would solve this to a large extent.

The rooms were clean and nice. Traffic noise heard in the rooms all night. Food average but overpriced, the continental breakfast was sort of funny half a slice of French toast fruit coffee. Really a half slice?

Probably the worst hotel I've ever stayed at (but see food below). Near the airport and sometimes the flight path, feet off of the 4-lane highway in Cancun. The doors are aluminum single pane glass. A fellow guest described it as if there were a microphone on the road and a speaker in your room. Drag racing most weekend nights 10:30-2am. No running water one day. No espresso machine within miles of the place. Bottled water is $1 for an 8 ounces. Hot water heaters leak in all hallways. 5 months after the hurricane they have yet to begin to remove the collapsed structures. For all of these reasons and more, you will see no other guests here, so it gets lonely. Landscaping work right on top of you and hold meetings right next to your towel when there is not another guest anywhere in sight. I think they want to show how hard they are working but it makes everyone leave area. Otherwise, a very nice little patch of beach among the mangroves. Building a huge resort across the street with construction noise from 6am-8pm. This makes the rooftop pool and bar very noisy. They turn up the music, but then it feels like some kind of MI5 torture. The staff are THE sweetest people. One restaurant, but the food and the chef are INCREDIBLE. Some of the best food I've had during many trips to MX. If I owned a restaurant, I'd poach the chef. No joke. I asked to talk to him and can't remember the last time I did that. Amazing food in a place with very little else to recommend it.

This is a stunning property with the kindest staff. We only stayed here for one night as it is close to the airport, and we had an early flight in the morning, but they made our check-in seamless with our dog and offered local recommendations for restaurants that were amazing!

Relaxing couple of days

Cool factor for the look of this resort is off the charts, and the service was impeccable. The room was comfortable and the food in the onsite restaurant was very good. The resort seems to be rebuilding after some sort of major storm, with parts of it closed off to guests. (We got a discounted rate, which we felt good about depite the ongoing construction.) There is literally nothing you can walk to from the resort (some sort of convenience mart onsite would be helpful) and nearby noise from a very busy road is constant and loud. But if you want a relaxing experience primarilysunning and swimming... and can bring a sound machine or ear buds for sleeping... I recommend for the aesthetic and service.
