I would consider staying here again based on the location, you can walk right out to the beach from the hotel and it's absolutely amazing! The exterior of the hotel is great, quaint and quiet. The rooms though.. that's another story. We went with my parents and between the two rooms (57 and 50) this is what we experienced. Our room, 57 had a huge chunk of mold in the upper corner and then the plaster was crumbling at the bottom towards the floor. There isn't much water pressure to take a shower and you never really feel clean. Room 50, the upper tank on the toilet was broken and leaking. My parents had to put a cup over their sink drain because a cockroach came up out of it. My dad ended up with bed bugs all over his legs. The rooms didn't have internet and you could really watch TV, which is totally fine because we're on vacation but we also have small kids and they just needed some down time once in awhile and even to get out of the sun for an hour. So, if they could have had the option to just relax and watch a movie for an hour that would have been ideal (for us). If they took a little time and just put a little effort into the rooms themselves, I truly would give this hotel a 10/10.
This was our 2nd stay at Cabanas Maria del Mar. We had a ground floor Cabana room around the pool area. This property is truly a piece of paradise steps from the famous and super busy playa Norte. If you want to visit Isla Mujeres, but also escape the busy crowds on the beach and the streets, this hotel is your perfect option. Most days are quiet around the pool. The rooms are kept perfectly clean by the dedicated staff. Every cabana room has a spacious outside area with a table and chairs. Wifi is available around the pool but does not extend to some rooms.
The property was nice and the stuff were fine The room leaves a lot to be desired. The comforter was basically a moving blanket and the sheets were stained, and the towels smelled gross.
We loved how they kept it very clean yet it was a little dated for a pipular location. The staff was amazing and the view was our favorite. Being roght on the beach was the best of it all.
Property and rooms were great. We had a ground floor cabana room which was clean and spacious and one of the few that has wifi on patio nice small pool. Cleaning staff were great but most of the desk clerks were miserable and not friendly. Would stay again though
Cabana Maria DelMar is an excellent location to the beach, very clean, and the staff is excellent! You can't beat the price. I would highly recommend it.

The pool was mostly quiet and nicely done with trees and plants. Water was cold as it's not heated but felt nice to cool down in.
We like the location, beautiful gardens and close to beach , close to restaurants…staff was very nice and helpful…room was very small, no chairs, had to use the ones from balcony, very small tv( size of my cookie sheet) no English speaking channel at all … Wi-Fi only in the gazebo by the pool… overall good stay …
There are a lot of nice things about this property. The problem is that the wifi simply did not work on our devices, even when we sat right next to the router. Avoid if you have to do any remote work during your stay. It's a great location right on the beach, and the grounds and pool area are beautiful. Service was a mixed bag; front desk was unmanned at times, including during checkout!
Low key travelers will find this property satisfactory. The location is awesome, right on the beach. It’s 12 minutes walk from the ferry. Next to great restaurants and the downtown. The grounds look nice. Pool looks dated. The room is spartan. Uncomfortable beds, low water pressure in the shower. We were given 2 towels for 3 people. Cleaning of the room and change of towels is every other day. It’s a place to sleep and head out to enjoy the area, very basic but conveniently located.
Room 11. Third floor in a separate building from main hotel. No elevator. TV is old school CRT with only Spanish language channels. Tiny and hard to see anything on it. Also light bulb in bathroom would go off for no reason while using the shower.
This room is directly above the kitchen on floor 1. Before 8am each morning awful loud noises that are impossible to sleep thru begin. To get to any room in this building you basically walk thru the service area directly outside the kitchen. Our balcony had no chair or table while the other balcony's did have 2 chairs and 1 small table.
The only good thing about this room/hotel: 30 second walk from the room and you are on PLAYA NORTE, the best beach not only in the area, but in all of Mexico in my opinion. While crowded, it is 100% sand, (no rocks), and only knee deep for 100 yards or more.
If money is tight you can just lay a towel on the sand and start enjoying your day. If you can afford $50 - get two beach loungers and an umbrella plus waiter service. It is $450 pesos for this with a minimum $500 peso spend on food and drink. (Get the ceviche).
Skip the day pass to Mia Reef. It works out to $200 for 2 people and you get more room here. Do follow the path past Mia Reef to get to the East side of the island and see the waves hit the rocks.
I would only stay at this hotel again if guaranteed to stay in main building.
