We’ve been traveling for family reunions twice a year for the past 15 years, staying at various properties of this HYATT franchise, but this was by far the worst experience we’ve ever had. Here's a breakdown of the major issues: Additional Charges and "Preferred Upgrade" Scam: The "preferred upgrade" was a joke—it felt more like a scam than a service upgrade. Outdated Rooms: The rooms were extremely outdated, and many features didn’t work (like the drawers). Food Poisoning Incident: Our group of 16 dined at the Gaucho Grill specialty restaurant on our first night. Three of us, including me, had corn soup, and within two hours, we started experiencing severe stomach issues. One person had vomiting, diarrhea, and a fever that lasted for three days. We reported the issue the next morning to the staff, including the preferred guest services desk, reception manager Faustino, and others. They advised us to keep quiet and talk privately so other guests wouldn't hear about the food poisoning. Victor (we don’t even know what hotel he works for) called our room that afternoon to follow up and mentioned that the hotel doctor would come with a $3000 pesos charge, which we refused since our family doctor had already provided a prescription for antibiotics. Awesome beach, good food, great staff. Specifically event coordinators, Bryan, Leilani, and Diana. Also, bartender Andy Jesus in particular was fantastic. All the servers in the cafe/buffet were a pleasure including Humberto and Noe. Professional and courteous.

Honeymoon Resort Review Cons: • Food quality was hit or miss—some meals were decent, but others were underwhelming. • Inconsistent resort credit policy—other preferred guests received a $200 resort credit for massages without attending a tour, but we were told we had to take a tour of their affiliate resort to qualify. • Mysterious bites issue—my husband woke up with multiple bites on his legs on the first two mornings, despite arriving late and not going outside on our first night. While the hotel manager was apologetic and offered to change our room, they refused to take responsibility, insisting the bites were from mosquitoes. However, once we moved rooms, the bites completely stopped, and a local pharmacy suggested they were likely spider bites—making it clear the issue was tied to our original room. • Inconsistent housekeeping—while room service was generally good, there were small inconsistencies, such as not replacing face or hand towels and leaving behind old bottles. Pros: • Great service at restaurants and poolside—staff was attentive and friendly. • Preferred lounge perks with drinks and snacks were a nice touch. • Evening events were enjoyable and added to the atmosphere. • Wide variety of margaritas to choose from, which we loved. • Beautiful beach and stunning hotel room view—a highlight of our stay. • Convenient location, making it easy to explore the area.

Horrible hotel experience

It was not what I expected, we paid for a 4stars hotel and I think it wasn’t , the personal trying as bad , just because we bought or hotel with another company.It was or anniversary and we plan this vacation and, then give us a double bed , and they make us pay more to be able to have a king bed. But I so how they took care of their guests just because they booked direct with them. They make me feel cheep because I booked with hotel.com . The hotel was feeling apart

The beach is beautiful. The pools are ok, one pool had several broken tiles and if you weren't careful you would cut your toes. Sergio the waiter provided amazing pool side service. But other pool side service at best was a two. Only one bartender per bar and no speciality shots. The resort as a whole is ran down and could use some up grades. Also the resort is very loud and if you go to bed early don't expect to get to sleep. If you werent at the à la carte restaurants right when they opened there was an hour or more wait. When checking in they want you to up grade to premier for xx dollars per night. All in all the resort is a 2.5 to 3.
