We stayed there for 15 nights. First week we could order drinks at the beach and pay with cash. Second week, they said it was not allowed. What's up with that???
The "vendors" are obviously using Emporio as an escape from the police. The "private security" on the property is for appearances only. We saw vendors "esacpe" up the stairs, take off vendor clothing, come down and keep an eye out for police, alert other vendors, and then go change back into their vendor clothing once police were gone. We saw young man leave items on a chair and run on the stairs and police came and stopped and ran up stairs too late to catch him. We tried to alert someone of what the young man left, but security didn't speak english and pointed us to the towel lady. Later, from our balcony, two "vendor" ladies came up, opened the container the young man left and get on the phone, and then take it and leave the beach. Another day to male vendors ran from police and hid in the corner behind the turtle nests, right under our balcony. Once the police had passed by, they came back out. We don't know who is paying who to have your private security have all of this going unnoticed, but it was unbelievable to use...each and every day.
We've vacationed in Cancun for 25 years. The water and sand were the best we've ever seen. But the layout of your resort, the lack of security, and being treated as 2nd class patrons will have us go to other resorts in the future. Our experience will be shared.
