Incredibly clean resort. Staff and service were great. The beds are 5 inches narrower than a regular full-sized bed, and that was a major problem. Also, the shower stall empties into the main room; you will need to ask for a room divider, unless you want to step out of the shower and directly into the main room

This property was beautiful! The only reason I did not give a perfect rating is because our hotel bathrooms weren’t the cleanest. There were residue on the walls and toilet seats. I ended up cleaning the room myself! Also , on our second night there , we returned to our room with the beds straightened, the towels and rags restocked, which was all good until we learned that house keeping made a bowel movement in our room and never flushed or cleaned the toilet afterwards. It was just there for us to discover when we returned! I was completely disgusted!!! This review is strictly on our most recent stay. I will absolutely return to this resort but, the housekeeper/keepers who serviced our room before and during our stay can be better. Also, the resort should consider wristbands that open the doors as we found it very difficult to get in and out our rooms trying to search for a key.

The room was poorly built and horribly designed. Very small as well. There is a bathtub in the middle of the room with zero privacy. It looked IKEA stuff. The outside design very empty and not a lot of trees. Very plain and boring. Not worth the money!

Unfortunately, my sister and I had an extremely poor experience at this resort and cannot recommend. This is my 4th time staying at a Riu Palace (previously stayed in Costa Rica, Aruba, DR) and 8th time in the Caribbean resorts. It was always a lovely experience so we booked Riu Palace costa mujeres. I’ve never had a bad resort experience to date until now as we’re not picky or stern. We were provided 2 room options, both of which would be below the buffers and restaurants. You can hear the chairs being moved all day long, not just during dinner. Besides the noise, there was also a wedding and the DJ was close to our room, ongoing noise disruption past midnight during our stay. We’re in our early 30s and don’t get bothered with noise usually, and even we felt it was ridiculously disruptive. There is also no reservation system and the a la carte sit down restaurants turned us away at 8:30PM each night we attempted to dine (they close at the PM). It was only two of us. Yet, none of the restaurants on site could accompany a party of 2 during our stay. The steakhouse and Japanese restaurant told us “We are out of plates”. Others told us they were at capacity. We saw large groups from the wedding eating so they couldn’t accommodate smaller groups. Honestly no one wants to spend so much money on a vacation to eat at a lackluster buffet every meal of every day. We brought the dining issue up to the manager Luna, who said it was “strange”, but no resolution.

Will be at this hotel three times we like pretty much everything specially beach with palm trees. One thing I would mention the towels are little rough in the hotel. It needs to add softener when they wash them or something

Overall good property! Pretty standard offering for an all-inclusive resort. Couple of items that are lacking: 1. The beds in the rooms are pretty small. Stated as doubles, but they seemed much smaller than that. Two children on one bed felt cramped, not to mention two adults. 2. The restaurants were underwhelming. The buffet was the best option and the food was great, but the a la carte offerings were disappointing to us.
