I’m honestly disappointed with our recent stay at Royalton CHIC Cancun. My sister and I visited this resort years ago when it had first opened, and we were so impressed that it shifted our entire perspective on Royalton Hotels. Since then, we’ve only booked with Marriott and Royalton CHIC when traveling abroad. Unfortunately, this most recent stay marked the end of that loyalty. From the start, we were signed up for a “membership presentation” not technically a timeshare, but extremely similar. It took up nearly half of our first day. When we declined to purchase, the tone completely changed. The representative became aggressive, and we were never given the gift that was promised for attending. The woman who helped coordinate the presentation even saw us afterward and didn’t acknowledge us. It all felt very transactional and insincere. Aside from that, the elevators barely worked, and wait times were frustrating. Ultimately, we cut our stay short and went to Planet Hollywood about 45 minutes away and the difference in experience was like night and day. Sadly, we won’t be returning to Royalton CHIC. We’ll be exploring other resorts going forward.

The hotel itself is a beautiful property, and I especially enjoyed the view of the water (either the ocean or the lagoon) from practically any point inside the building. The staff does an extraordinary job and go above and beyond to meet customers needs and expectations. I want to highlight the wonderful service provided by Heidy, Jorge and Nelson from the “Elements” restaurant, as well as Antonio from the “Vespa” restaurant. I highly recommend staying here on your next trip to Cancún!

Avoid This Resort – You’ve Been Warned Our experience at this resort was deeply disappointing. Almost every restaurant we tried whether Italian, Mexican, or otherwise was a 0/10. The only somewhat decent option was the open buffet breakfast, but let’s be honest, it’s hard to mess up scrambled eggs and toast. As Diamond members, we expected a higher level of service and benefits. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. Premium drinks at the rooftop bar were not included we had to pay extra. Worse, during rooftop events, seating came with an additional $200 fee, even for members. We were also charged about $50 in unexplained fees and “green” taxes that were never properly explained just more nickel and diming. The so called “Excursions Office” what they call felt like a scam. Just book your excursions without them. The final straw was during checkout when we were accused of breaking a mirror in the room something we hadn’t even noticed. With little time to defend ourselves, we were hit with a $1,000 damage charge. After arguing, they dropped it to $500, but it was still an unfair and stressful situation, especially for something we did not do. If you’re considering staying here don’t. Cancun’s beaches and sunshine are great, but you can enjoy those elsewhere without the rip-offs and poor service. This resort is not worth the headache.

I really enjoyed this hotel . I came here as a birthday trip w my husband and it was a great time . The food was good the buffet was actually really good and the Italian restaurant Vespa . The club they have on level 4 was SOOO much fun !! I really enjoyed my stay . It’s clean . The elevators I do wish didn’t take so long
