All meals were very good, food was replenished before it was needed so it was always fresh. There was always a good variety, and it seemed to have a good variety of vegan options (I am not vegan). Drinks were served in smallish glasses but they use quality alcohol. No waitstaff in at the pool or in the bar, but that may have been because of the time of year. Our room was clean and spacious with a very large balcony and a great shower and very comfortable beds. Rooms were cleaned early in the day. A couple days before arrival I received an email th check in. During the process you are asked the time of arrival. We were arriving at 8:30 am we got to the resort and our rooms were ready and waiting for us! They have a free shuttle to take you to Funchal 3 times a day. The hotel is beautiful, the pool area is huge and well maintained. Highly recommend anyone to stay here.

Room was good, ants on first night in bathroom & heating a little noisy, but clean and well kept by staff. Staff were very friendly overall, the upkeep and docor of the hotel was beautiful. All inclusive, was worth it. The food was wonderful. Th entertainment a good touch, one pool cold and barely used, but the other was good.. the indoor pool area could be cleaner. Overall it was a wonderful stay.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner warianty was amazing and lot's of fresh and local produce to choose from. Menu favorites included local seafood and items changed daily. Room was always nicely kept up and clean. We had nice view overlooking the ocean. All the stuff was always super attentive, welcoming and friendly ready to help with anything we needed. This was our first time staying at RIU hotel and I’m already planning my next vacation at one of their properties. Worth every penny.

This is an all-inclusive resort, which limits the breadth of drinks offered: there is only one brand of wine that I saw in the dining room, and the poolside bar had a laminated card with a limited number of simply made cocktails. Both the wine and cocktails were good, though. The Riu's app has bonkers areas. A link to the fine-dining room's menu goes to instructions on how to use your phone as a room key. Hitting the back button always took me away from the subject I was pursing to a chain-wide list of all Riu resorts. The room itself was fine, but a little greige for a high-end resort, and the air conditioning needed a boost. The staff were all very, very, very good. A shuttle bus into Funchal was a very good service. Would I return? Probably not. I'd want to stay in town, rather in an area equidistant between Funchal and the airport. And a little more variety in drinks.

The atmosphere of the hotel was lively and friendly. The staff always had a smile and a warm greeting at any time of the day. The smell of the salt water intensfied the aroma at any time of the day.
