I’m genuinely shocked by the glowing reviews for the Georgetown Inn on Expedia. While I understand the hotel is meant to have a unique or quirky charm, there was nothing exceptional about my stay.
The rooms were uncomfortably hot, and the noise from neighbouring rooms made it difficult to relax. The space itself is very small, with almost no counter space in the bathroom—or anywhere else, really—as a tea display mostly occupies the one desk. There were no power outlets or a lamp on one side of the bed, which was frustrating for charging devices. The toilet paper was rough, and the bed was so soft and unsupportive I was honestly surprised I could walk the next morning. Cleanliness was lacking—my pillowcases were stained, and there was hair on one of the “clean” bath towels.
That said, the location is great—very walkable and close to everything. The attached pub was the highlight of the stay, with a great atmosphere and a wonderful breakfast.
Unfortunately, those positives weren’t enough to outweigh the uncomfortable experience in the room itself. I wouldn’t stay here again.
